Helios 500 headphone jack not working!

Hi all,

My current issue is when I plug in my headphones, the laptop switches to "headphone" mode and tries to push sound into my headphones. Nothing comes out. When I unplug the headset it goes back to the laptops speakers. I have tried everything from reinstalling my drivers to making sure that I have the right device selected in my playback devices.

Has anyone experienced this and know how to fix it? Is my headphone jack just bad?

Thanks for your help!

    Also as an update:

I do not see an option for "headphones" when I plug in my headset under the playback devices. I don't know how to fix this ...

The headphone jack. I have tried both just to be sure, but no success.

Check the support/drivers page. There's actually a driver update about that, I believe.

So are you trying to use a headset that has a microphone?

I have the same issue on a newish helios 300- worked for a few weeks then stopped - I tried reinstalling the realtek drivers and it worked again but the next time i unplugged and plugged back in headphones it crapped out again.  When I start the RealTek Audio console - i get an error message "Can't connect to RPC console.
