Did i get a lemon ? Helios 300 G3-572

Hello

In the last months and few problems on my computer, the SAV (I'm french, so hum it's "after-sale service" I suppose) changed two times my motherboard, one time my GPU, replaced for no reason my HDD (for a very bad one, so I asked them to replace it again for a good one ...), broke backlit keyboard during a reparation, and put some cookies (yep, the biscuit) inside my computer. Also, by replacing the motherboard they put the wrong BIOS inside. The CPU fan turns at only 5500 / 5700 rpm, I think because of the wrong BIOS (turn at 6000rpm ordinarily). Don't need to mention that my speaker also has problems since the last reparation (they freeze randomly).

Now, my battery got a problem. 50%, 60%, 45%, etc to 0% in a few seconds, without warning. 100% = 45min in eco mode, 0% light, no backlit keyboard, internet navigation.


My warranty will end in a few days. What should I do? too many problems. Did I pay 1200e for only get a lemon computer?

  • As your warranty will expire in a few days, it is ideal to contact Acer technical support in France and report all your problems. However, I can try to help:
    a) In bios, the notebook name is as Predator G3-572 or just G3-572?
    b) about the keyboard, how did the damage occur exactly?
    c) about freezes, have you tried to update the drivers?
    d) about the battery, have you tried to reset it?

    Your battery its probably faulty check your wear and for how log do u have it if you bought it recently was a bad investment for the price u stated u could had got a 2019 also hdd its in the past u need ssd these days for the os 😊

    a) NG-G3-572-52VM, and BIOS Version : V1.22
    b) because of a problem on the motherboard*, i called the techincal support and sent them the computer, they changed the motherboard and sent it back to me, but without backlit under the keyboard. So i sent it again to them to repaired it, because it was their fault.
    c) yep, and also tried old drivers.
    d) reset it ? let it go to 0% and charge it to 100% ? yep. And Acer Care Center software said that my battery is "good"


    * the first problem was a burned motherboard (cpu at 95°, because of no / not enough thermal paste on it). They replaced it by a brand new and sent the computer back to me. Without GPU... so i called them again, sent it again. This time, they changed the motherboard for the second time (because it was a broken one, not a brand new apparently), and also the GPU because they broke it in the previous reparation. They sent it back to me. Without backlit under the keyboard and a very bad HDD (yep, they changed it, for no reason), i figured out that the CPU fan max rpm wasn't the right max (6000), but between 5500 and 5700. So called them agaaaaaaain, changed my backlight keyboard, the hdd and for the fan they responded that it was the wrong BIOS but "not their problem, just deal with it". For the speaker's problem, it' started at the same time as the fan problem, so i supposed it was the BIOS or again bad reparation. And few days after this reparation i decided to clean the computer, and i founded that this reparation added cookies and chocolat in my computer.

    Only they can fix it unfortunately you have to keep insisting and escalate the issue up to the highest with support this community its not in anyway a direct support channel we are just normal users like you that are here voluntarily to help we are not acer employees so my advice is keep pushing it with support even file a formal complaint if neede because by what u said that's what i would do for negligence on repairing

    I keep insisting and I already called them maybe 8 or 9 times and returned it in reparation for 3 or 4 times. They keep returning it to me with other problems, they're not capable of repair it correctly... I need my computer everyday, last time they keep it for almost two months.

    Send it again, okay. But for what ? my warranty will end in few day and it's clearly sure that i will get again other and other problems on it like it already happened.
  • I agree with colleague xapim, because as you said yourself, your notebook has a short warranty time. In addition, when a device is repaired, you will have a guarantee of that repair that was performed. I would insist on tech support until the computer was repaired or even replaced with one that had no hidden addiction.

    I already asked for 1 replacement with another laptop and the only answer I get said that it was only for a recurrent problem on the same piece. Like if it was motherboard problem 3 or 4 time again and again. But it's always a different problem,so they said to me that I can just sent it again when a new problem happen, and they will '' repaire '' it but never replace it for a brand new laptop
  • In this case, I still think you should contact the Acer service center. However, you can check a few things:
    a) on the backlit keyboard, you should check this jbl1 connection:

    b) If I understood the reference, when you that there are pieces of cookies, it means that the motherboard was dusty or dirty, correct? This is not good and you may need to clean it with 100% isopropyl alcohol.
    c) If the fans are spinning at 5700 rpm, try cleaning them. Under the name of the notebook in the bios, was not to be with "NG-G3-572-52VM", but with the name Predator G3-572. This fix can only be done with the dmitools program, but this program can only be run by the Acer service center.
