Hello everyone.

F1-F12 buttons have assigned functions like sleep mode, airplane mode, sound up/down etc. If someone wants to use F buttons for other functions, for example I use F2 very often to rename files or activate excel cells, they have to hit them along with Fn button (Fn+F2), which is not very practical. Is there a way to swap the main action of the F buttons?

Also, is there a way to page up/down while having Num Lock on (Pg Up/Dn are assigned on 9 and 3 respectively).

Last, is there an idication anywhere to see if Caps/Num Lock is on?

Check the BIOS  menu Main tab for a FN button switch option. For the caps/numlock, if you don't have a persistent ACER widget app then Keyboard LEDs is a very nice freeware substitute. Jack E/NJ

Shut the machine off. Then turn it back on and immediately press the F2 key to enter the BIOS menu. Jack E/NJ

Suddenly today the F keys returned to their main functions (e.g. sleep, airplane mode etc), although I had them switched to F functions through bios. I believe I might have caused when I used C-Cleaner app to clean registry. Any idea?

It's best not to use registry tools other than regedit.exe if you know how to use it. They can often cause more confusion or trouble than they're worth. And the last time I checked CCleaner was still freeware. So it's worth nothing. You get what you paid for.   :) Jack E/NJ

Suddenly laptop stopped seeing WiFi. Other devices can see it without a problem. This happens both with home and University WiFi. Any help?

Open Device Manager. Do you see any red or yellow device driver warnings? If none, click on Device Manager's 'network adapters' folder. Do you see the wlan or wifi card listed? Jack E/NJ

No reds or yellows. Wlan card is listed. I tried to uninstall it and restart PC but problem persists.

Yes, there is a wifi icon in the system tray. Now I am connected to a cafeteria wifi and everything works well. Could it be a home wifi issue (it actually is a shared internet connection - the same internet connection for five appartments, we just share the code)

When you're home with no web connection,  do you still see a wifi icon? Jack E/NJ

Yes, the wifi icon was there and laptop was able to identify other connections, but not mine.

Right click on the icon when you're at home.  Click on 'troubleshoot problems'. Then let the troubleshooter walk you through its questions & yourf answers process to see if it can identify the issue. Sure sounds like the router/modem has an issue, not your machine. Maybe it just needs to be turned off and on again. Jack E/NJ

A BIOS update came and went, without a keyboard update. I keep giving bad reviews where I can, on this model, in various forums. Hopefully, the bad press gives someone the incentive to fix this. It really is frustrating to have to deal with this. Aspire A515-54

Audio problem when casting on TV
Hey again! I'm trying to cast my laptop to my TV. After many attempts I managed to do so, however I'm still having an audio problem. While watching a video, audio comes and goes. Most of the tome audio can't be heard. Any idea?

It's best if you create a new thread on this casting issue. Jack E/NJ
