Hello guys, i m goona purchase a helios 700, and i want to know some things.
1. On site it appears ram is sdram, so it’s regular desktop ram and no sodimm?
2. Max frequency supported ram, voltage and if it works in quad channel(want to upgrade to 4x8gb), also the timings.
3. If i buy it here in romania is it able for the service provider to change the thermal paste (thermal grizzly kryonaut) and the thermal pads(alphcool esseicht) on my expense?
4. If i want to change only the thermal paste, is it possible due to the complicated heatsink/mobo position?
5. I want to get the 9750h/2070 rtx version but on (altex) site doesn’t say if it’s gsync.
Thanks for understanding and hope you get the time to help me. Respect to all.

    Good evening AlexCio !

First, you must enter the EXACT model of the laptop.

1- SDRAM is the type of memory.
    SODIMM is the architecture.
So laptops use memories of laptops and not desktops.

2- Must inform the EXACT model of the laptop.

3 - Such changes generate loss of warranty in practically all countries.
In this case you should check with your local Acer.

4- In any current high performance laptop, this procedure is technical and thorough and the complete disassembly of the device is required.

5- Must inform the EXACT model of the laptop.

Have a look here at the disassembly of the hellios 700 at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzW2mGUL35M also, look here for the 'Inside Acer Predator Helios 700 – disassembly and upgrade options' https://laptopmedia.com/highlights/inside-acer-predator-helios-700-disassembly-and-upgrade-options/ this tells you and answers all your questions, it doesn't look very complicated and you could do this very easily!

    The model is PH717-71-79JC
I do not want to lose warranty, that’s why i asked if i can change the thermal and pads through an Acer service center (samabit i think it’s in Romania) on my expense( i will buy the thermal paste and thermal pads alphacool esseicht 17w/mk with the required thickness.

Also guys i was watching the top Clevo model with quad channel p775m1 something like that and originPC laptops with 3200mhz ram. But the price difference is about 1.000 euro. I owned a legion y740 but because of thermals (90-100C) and always throttling from 4.5ghz to 3.5ghz(gpu was nice 65Cmax) but cpu sucked, i sold it.
I don’t mind thickness and weight, i want a cool system and it seems helios700 does the job.i alao own a u3cm coolerpad with 2 noctua nf14 3000 rpm industrial pwm and they blow anything that stays in their path, i could manage 20C lower temps on legion (from 42/50 to 32/38) on browsing and idle, but in load still i was hitting 100C after 1-2hours of gaming)

The warranty will only Change anything if its broken or faulty and for stock parts only and to get more info about specific features of any model you should contact acer support directly this community its not an acer support direct channel in any way we do not work for acer we are just normal users like you who are just here voluntarily to help to troubleshoot any issues that might arise the best way we can

    Thanks 😊

Does anyone have anything to bash helios 700? i am really fixed on this laptop, why are some bashing it? isn’t it any good? and why clevo? From which perspective? i see everyone saying only good things i am interested in (performance, cooling system) i am not interested in weight or thickness, but i am interested also in fiability besides performance, cooling.

Lot of reasons, Acer just is not such top enthusiastic products, absence of support, no updates, stupid factory settings you can’t adjust, backlight bleedings everywhere

If you think they are cheaper, this lower price is not for free you will understand it but will be too late

Clevo have one of the lowest latencies

AlexCio I my personal view all acer laptops are fine if proper maintained as any other manufacturer there are some lemons as there are with all manufacturers  when it comes to mass production there will always be defective unites no matter what the device is but hey its only my view and haters will always hate no mater what :p
