    Complete failure of Acer Predator Helios 500 after 15 months.

    We purchased a Acer Predator Helios 500 17.3in Intel i7-GTX 1070 (PT715-51) from Currys/PC World in Aug 2018 for £1803.

    In Oct 2019 it simply failed to boot up correctly (blank screen) and it was returned to Acer for repair. Acer reported that it needed a new motherboard and quoted £1800 which I refused.

    Pretty disgusted with Acer as I now have a brick as the repair cost is equal to a new machine. It would appear to be a graphics issue as the "led" sequence is normal but there is no screen output.

    What would be the best course of action given that Acer have completely let me down?

    Would welcome any input.

    Since it is quite a expensive investment, I would look for an specialized computer hardware technician, the ones which have the whole soldering machinering and access to buy replacement parts. I would not look for small pricing at this point, since a mishandled intervention may damage the device beyond repair.

    @landrovercounty this community its not an acer direct support channel in anyway im sorry for what happened but we're just normal users here we do not work for acer we're here voluntarily only to help to troubleshoot any issues the best way we can any issues with warranty should be solved via acer support directly 

    My advice to anyone who invests in any gaming laptop please buy extended warranty its well worth it you might regret it if you don't because its simple if u have money to buy it you certainly also have £60 more to get extended warranty its just common sense like buying your car and not getting any insurance
