build in microphone gives a lot off background noice.

Hello.

It seems that the build in Realtek high definition Audio microphone on my travelmate p 2510 is not working correctly anymore.
If I use it for e.g. a skype or slack call the other participants only hear a lot of static noise. (they compared it with the sound of an old tv)

when I checked the configuration of the microphone (in the sound menu) I noticed that the green bar in the display is always fully green , even if I am in a silent enviroment.
- I already checked if there are new updates
- I also tried to adjust the level of the microphone in the properties menu. but even if I set it to 1 it is fully green.

Does someone know's a solution?

Hi,
Could you please check the driver version in Device manager, go to Acer support site and enter the model name, you have to select the full model name, like Travelmate P2510-m/mg etc.
Download the appropriate Audio driver, even if it's an older driver from 2018, then move to Device Manager and uninstall the current driver, without rebooting install the driver from Acer and see whether it fixes the problem, it's always better to use drivers from Acer because these drivers are especially made for your particular system.

thanks for the advice.
I deleted the driver and reinstalled the new driver from the acer website. Saddly enough it did not fix the problem.

Hi,
Go to Sound control panel, click the Properties for Speaker, try disabling TrueHarmony if it's present, disable any Enhancements etc.
Carry out the same for Microphone Properties as well, like disabling any sound effects.

Hey.
I tried different settings. But the problem still remains.
I somehow missed that you could post a screenshot. so I added this screenshot not in my first post.
The sound level is constantly changing between the levels I marked red in the screenshot below.

Hi,
No problem, you could try another thing, go to Settings, Privacy and select Microphone, try turning off access for few programs like Cortana and see whether it improves the quality.
