SWIFT 515-51T SSD 1TB Samsung Compatability

I am looking at buying the Swift 515-51T and have read some posts concerning upgrade of SSD.
Last May Brummyfan2 noted that Crucial has a 1TB that they say is compatible and that he likes Samsung for reliability.
I note that Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 NVMe has 1TB SSD and i want to consider this for the higher speed.
I see a UK upgrade website states that this is compatible with the Swift 515.
Can anybody offer advice if the Samsung  1TB is compatible?

    Thanks Billsey you have answered the question,
    and thanks for pointing out caution to do the cloning.
    But in relation to that, it raises another question 
    I do not know for sure whether the original SSD is soldered on, and the new SSD is simply added in the spare M.2 port.
    Laptop review sites all indicate that the original SSD is soldered on, but I saw some posts earlier on here suggesting that the existing SSD is not soldered but placed in the M.2 port. Then it would be a case of replacing the original SSD with the new one.
    That's a different process than just adding an extra SSD.
    Do you know if the original SSD is normally soldered on?

    I managed to resolve my own situation today as explained below, but the answer to the question on original SSD is both yes and no.
    I am in Bangkok. I rang ACER main office support here and they said that the 256 GB SSD is normally in the M.2 slot and not fixed to the motherboard.
    They also said that 500GB SSD has been tested and confirmed ok but not 1TB.
    I decided to go ahead with purchase, and had found a good price in an IT mall which also has one of the main acer service centers.
    So I went into the service center and asked them about the SSD.
    Their technician said that in their experience the SSD is in the spare slot and not on the motherboard.
    So I would have to replace the SSD. They would do it for free and deal with the windows 10 transfer.
    They also said that the warranty would not be affected (unless the new SSD itself was the cause of any issues). They were extremely helpful.

    I then made up my mind that I would have to see how I get on with 500 GB. Local prices for the Samsung 1TB were anyway far higher (+30%) than I expected from online checks.
    Because the support center was only at most 100 meters from the laptop retailer, I asked them that if I buy the laptop can they check it quickly for the SSD. They said yes, ok. Extremely good staff.
    I bought the swift 5 laptop , version SF515-51T-545K / i5. Took it to them and the technician checked within 5 to 10 minutes. They were surprised to find that this model had the SSD fixed to the motherboard , and the M.2 slot was free. 
    I went out and bought a 500GB Samsung 970 Evo plus, from shop close by. 
    The Acer support center fitted it straight away.
    No problems with cloning/ transferring windows, it went simply on as an extra drive in addition to the initial 256 GB. Thats ok for what I need at present. Top marks to the staff at the Acer support center. Amazingly good service.

    That is odd, they must be shipping a different configuration there than any of the ones I can see info on here in the US. All the documentation I can find just has the M.2 slot for SSD and no free room on the motherboard to solder in a drive...

    Thinking back to earlier, I am not so sure the staff at the service point meant that the original SSD was on the motherboard since they mentioned something about two slots. Their English was reasonable but easy for the translation to get mixed.
    I will open up at the weekend to look at what the situation is and post a picture for you, if i can.

    Normal has two M.2 slots, one for the SSD and one for the WiFi/Bluetooth adapter. The second can only be used for the adapter, not for a SSD.

    Apologize for not answering earlier. Been Pre-occupied with figuring out the laptop and how to use windows 10. Been putting it off for ages but had to bitethe bullet eventually.
    I could not open up the back of the laptop because there are the warranty stickers by ACER.
    There are definitely two SSD drives at present. The original 256 GB is my C drive and the 500GB samsung SSD is the D drive. Should suit me for a while.
    On all the web reviews for SWIFT 5 i saw there was only the one M.2 slot shown. I saw pictures of Swift 3 that had two slots.
    unfortunately, since I cannot ope up i cannot clarify how/ where the two are fitted,

    IIRC if you go into Device Manager and expand disk drives. I should show the manufacturer and model number. You may have a 256GB SSD and a 500GB HDD.

      I'll post a diagram just in case someone else has that question.  I understand the confusion.   The Hynix BC501 is the permanently soldered BGA 1620 PCIe NVMe SSD.
