I purchased my Acer Aspire ES 15 laptop in June 2018 having been a Dell business customer for 18 years.   The Aspire purchase was an emergency purchase when the SSD drive of my old Dell Inspiron 1545 packed it in.  As a business user, the most important thing for me is reliability.  I had never had any problems with Dell laptops and most of them lasted over 10 years.  However, after less than  one and half years the right hinge on the Acer Aspire has detached and the screen is coming apart at the edges. I currently have the screen held together with duck tape.  Having read the comments above it seems that Acer will not cover the replacement of a new screen.   I am extremely disappointed with the performance of Acer and it seems like the best solution at this stage is to go back to Dell.  I will never buy another Acer again.

    Hi olivertradesmen,

I'm sorry to hear that you're running into hinge issues. I can certainly understand the frustration, however, I can assure you that a far larger portion of Acer laptops do not experience this. A lot of research and development go into the hinge design of our products to minimize any issues. Hinges have been failing on clam-shell notebooks for as long as they've been built, and that's not just related to Acer, a quick google search replacing Acer for another manufacture is sure to produce the same or similar results. Unfortunately, the hinge is the weak point in a folding process that also has to be a hollow enough to allow for wires to pass through and not wrinkle them. They take all the stress created when opening the device, but it also has to be capable of moving to allow anyone (think children) to open it.
