With Serial Number Tool Why Acer Aspire AM100 changed to M5100 after installing Windows 7?
also, says you have the latest Marvell Drivers - no luck - tried to install M1100 and M5100 Marvell drivers - still NO Internet and Sound Drivers working - the Vista was 32 bit - changed it to XP 32 bit, and, yesterday, installed Win 7, 64 bit...runs fine but NO internet nor any sound?  Help!!!

IIRC the AM1100, AM3100 ans AM5100 were all basically the same system with different things installed. That might be why the model number seems to have changed. I believe you have the Marvell 8E8056 Ethernet chip and I've heard the drivers beyond Vista can be a bit wonky. This post might help. The chip might be an 88E8056 instead, and Marvell has drivers up through Windows 8 32bit.

The chip as per the Properties...is a Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI E-Gigabit Ethernet Controller......so what shall I do now?

Try the Windows 7 driver I linked above and use Compatibility mode to install if it balks.
