Hi,
This is my very first question on here so please go easy with me.
I have purchased a Acer Aspire 7 (A715-74G) Laptop from Curry's, from their website. It had on the specs it comes with a HD Webcam, Compatible with Windows Hello.
I have made the fingerprint reader work but not the webcam. Does anyone know what make these webcams are or even better how do I get it to work with Windows Hello. This was the main reason I brought this very laptop, its great to have a fingerprint reader but I will not use it and I really do need the webcam to work.
Many thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to the community, for Windows Hello to work you need to setup PIN number in sign in option and Biometric enabled in registry, please follow the procedure in this link:https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/windows-hello-isnt-available-on-this-device-on-windows-10-solved/0 -
Thank you for helping me I do appreciate it. I have tried gpedit.msc and I keep getting a error. Would this be because I have Windows 10 home and not pro? I have tried different things but can not get into "Local Group Policy Editor"
I have done all of my updates and I'm even trying a clean install of Windows 10 to see if that helps or not.
Thank you again0 -
No problem, you could also try the Microsoft Windows Hello Setup from this link, I haven't set it up myself so my experience with it minimal.

EDIT: I have just found out that you need a 3D depth camera for Windows Hello to work.

Still no joy. I have looked on the internet looking for an answer but it doesn't matter what I try still no joy.
Is there anyway I can find out if my laptop does in fact have a Windows hello compatible webcam or not, could Currys got the description wrong?
Thank you again for helping me I just hoped I was going to come back and tell you it worked.0 -
It's unfortunate that you need a 3D depth camera to have the Windows Hello working, please read the link in my edited post above.0

I have sent an email to Acer just to confirm that it does in fact have a webcam that can be used with Windows Hello. I am thinking Currys might have listed it down as compatible when it's not. Thank you for the help I did appreciate it0
