I purchased this laptop in July of 2016, and it's been working fine up until the past week when it started randomly shutting off with no error message while on battery power.  It seems to occur at any battery level, not just low battery.  I tried to register the device on Acer's website so I could request a repair, but the registration form won't accept the serial number which I'm positive is correct (I can send photo).  Also, when I purchased this laptop I lived in the USA, but I have moved to Finland and will be here for the foreseeable future.  How can I get this laptop serviced?  Thank you.

So I guess that's just it.  Zero support from Acer unless I want to essentially buy the less-than-six-month-old, pristine laptop all over again.  NO thank you, I'll just buy a laptop that ISN'T an Acer and vehemently forewarn anyone who even mentions Acer in my presence what terrible support they offer.  I can't believe you are still in business.

    SOLUTION:  NEVER BUY AN ACER!

  • Hi,

Have you tried resetting the battery? If you haven't, give this a try:http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/34843/~/acer-internal-battery-reset

Wait for the reply from Acer Technicians or Moderators regarding the service query.

I gave that a try, thanks.  Now to see if it makes a difference.

Unfortunately that did not fix the issue. The laptop is still randomly shutting off during use. Can I please get a response from a Technician or Moderator on how I can obtain service?

Hello?  Can I get please get some assistance from a technican or moderator letting me know how to obtain service for my laptop?  It is still randomly shutting off while on battery, and the registration form won't accept my serial number so I cannot go through the automated process of requesting service.

    Hello @Cabrill,

I'm sorry to hear that your E5-575G is having power issues.  The system might not recognize a Serial Number that was not commercialized in the region.  Have you tried contacting phone support for Finland?

I don't know if you solved the problem añready, but in my case the register form didn't accept the serial number bjt acepted the SNID, that is below the serial...

So I traveled to Vantaa last month to take my laptop in for support from Acer Finland, and they just notified me today that they want 604€ to repair it.  I only paid $550 for the laptop brand new less than 6 months ago, but they said that since I moved to Finland instead of just visited that the international warranty isn't valid because it's only applicable when traveling to other countries and moving here invalidates it.

This logic seems completely absurd!  I purchased an Acer laptop specifically because of their international warranty, and had I known I'd have to pay more than the entire cost of the laptop just a couple months later I would never have purchased it.  Is there anyone here with the power to resolve this issue?  I'm hoping this is just the result of a misunderstanding on their part.

Same issue here, (with the laptop, not the company).

Acer E5-575G-53VG randomly shutting down on battery. After some research I uninstalled the Intel Management Engine because people were reporting problems with that (version 11) and Windows 10. Others said to play with the power settings as a workaround. That didnt solve it.

Updating to the latest BIOS from the support website (version 1.23 at the time of this post), DID seem to solve it. (so far, so good)

    https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/6737?b=1

To OP, I would suggest trying that from the US support site, if thats where the machine originated. Good luck.

EDIT: Nevermind. Spoke too soon, Didn't work Smiley Sad

I think I found the fix.  I opened up the bottom of my Aspire E15.  I found this little button which seems to be an interlock that shuts off the laptop when the bottom access cover is removed.  You can see the button in the middle of this picture.  It's the small switch inside the square hole.

The inside of the bottom access cover has a square post that looks like it's supposed to keep the button pressed.  Here's what the square post looks like.

This Youtube video isn't mine, but it shows how to open and replace the back access cover, and you can see the little button.  The Youtube video is called "Acer Aspire E15 E5 575 521F RAM/Memory upgrade (E5-574-53QS)"

I suppose I could add tape or something so the post presses more on the button, but I didn't add tape to the post. I simply opened and reclosed the back access cover which seems to have fixed the problem.  If the problem returns, I will add some tape so that the square post pushes a little more on the button.  It's been 10 days now, and so far my laptop is working fine.

Me too suffering from auto on/off problem. It's really bad impression when you buy a laptop and it causes trouble after only a month from buying period.

Go to Power and Sleep settings then to Additional Power Settings and then Change Plan Settings, Pick "Balanced" - you may need to go to Change Advanced Plan Settings to pick Balanced. Then click restore to default. For some reason if you choose battery saver or performance rather than balanced it dies randomly. After resetting every battery setting I could find to default it now doesn't randomly turn off any longer. Also make sure that the back access cover is properly pushing down the button like the post above shows.
