I have a problem with IE 10 on my Aspire S3 with Windows 7

I get the message:

"This page can't be displayed" on any website

Is this know and what can I do?

Thank you,

Louis

1.Make sure you are connected to the internet

2.Make sure work offline is unchecked in Internet Explorer

    Thank you for your response.

If I was offline or not connected to the internet I get the following erorr

"You're not connected to a network"

So it probably is something else.

    Regards,

Try to restore IE to defult settings:

    Click on *tools*-->*internet options*

on  *advanced* tab click on *reset* (mark *delete personal settings*)

    close Internet Explorer.

Now open it and see if it will work.

This may not be related to your problem but, if all else has failed, it may be worth looking into.
Some while ago I could not get to the Internet at all although my network was ok. The machine was one of my laptops running Win XP (This also applies to Win7). File transfers etc were all fine - just no Internet.
Norton's found a Trojan which had infected Windows\System32\drivers\afd.sys.
afd.sys is a driver for Winsock and is crucial for Internet access.
Norton's dealt with the Trojan easily but the damage had been done.
This is such a common attack that Microsoft issued a 'FixMe' download to correct the problem (although it won't prevent it happening).
Running the fix immediately sorted the problem.
I don't recall where I found it now so you will have to search if you think this may be your problem.
Incidentally, some attacks also wreck the Winsock. Microsoft also issued a 'Fix' to rebuild it.

The Reset does not help and the repair of the winsock does not help either. I think I'll give up on MS IE 10 en continue with Firefox and Chrome. These have no problem.

    Thank you,

Did you download IE 10 yourself or was it pre-loaded? My Aspire S3 is a 64bit system & I suspect they all are. If you downloaded IE 10 for 32 bit by mistake (or mislabeled at the download site) you would get the error pages you report. I know because I did it...woops! Smiley Happy on a different computer.
