Hello,

My laptop is G9-793-79WJ. It is over 3 years old, and it's time to change the thermal paste and pads.
I've settled for Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and Minus Pads, but I can't find any info on how much thermal pad I need or the thickness.
Does anyone know or tried to change the pads on the cooling of these laptops ?

On a predator helios 300 (g3-571) I used a 1.5 thickness from ARCTIC and it seems to be working fine, maybe this could help.

You sound like you are going to use both? Your G9-793-79WJ is either with a pad or is pasted, Grizzly make a pad, its the "Thermal Grizzly Carbonaut" which is a high-tech carbon thermal pad and its excellent (I use it) or the "Grizzly Kryonaut" paste, you can't use both. I use the Grizzly Carbonaut pads and their thickness are just right, you have to cut the pad to fit the top of the CPU and GPU protruding pad only, not the whole thing.

I want to use the thermal paste for GPU and CPU, and the pads for RAMs and whatever are covered by default. I just want to know how much thermal pad I need (let's say two stripes of 120x20) and what thickness. I want to know before I order... so I don't open the laptop and find out I need more...

Yeah.. I think 1.5 thickness is a safe bet... I just want to make sure.... also the cooling is a bit different between our models... if you look at a G9-793 teardown, there is a small gap in the cooling with thermal pad on it.. and I think it has a different thickness

    Hi.

Same issue here with a Predator G3-571, after I recently replace my main drive to a Silicon Power Ace A55 M.2 2280 1TB SATA III 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) SP001TBSS3A55M28 from the original 256 GB drive, and adding a 1TB SSD on the extra drive bay, which doesn't include touching fans.

My solution, cutting some corners, was getting a Laptop Cooling Pad.

Here's the one I bought from Amazon, for $10.99 plus tax (USA region):

LIENS Laptop Cooling Pad with Adjustable Height Two 5.1 Inches Fan 2 USB Ports Suitable for 12"-15.6" Laptops(Black).

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08SW4RWWQ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

I know is not a perfect solution, but it works very well cooling down the laptop while pushing out all the bad air, plus I don't have to open it and deal with replacing the paste for a while, until I am psychologically able to deal with such emotions.

I don't have the temperature numbers for how cooler is now, but the GPU fans don't go crazy anymore, and I don't burn my fingertips while touching the keyboard and pretending to write something important.

    Good luck!
