USB drive disconnects during data copy/read on PH315-52

Hi All,

I am using Acer PH315-52 laptop for over a week now. Out of the 2 USB ports on the left side, the one closer to the power-input always disconnects when large file copy is in progress. Anyone facing similar issue?

I have tried connecting the same USB hard disk and running the same file copy over other USB ports in the system and found no issues at all.

I have seen this issue when playing media stored on USB hard drive as well, but only on this one USB port.

In some other thread, I have seen battery reset as a solution for all USB related issues. But I can't do that on my laptop, as my model does not have any reset pin. I don't want to remove the back panel, as I will have to remove the warranty sticker to do so.

Anyone has any suggestions to solve this issue?

Any help much appreciated !!

    Hi Jithesh

control panel> power options > change plan settings > change advanced power settings >USB settings >USB selective suspend setting
The set the plugged in option to disabled.

I have already tried disabling 'Selective Suspend'. Issue still persists.

Jithesh could probably be a faulty usb port it might happen i would had it checked just in case or you could check it yourself with a voltmeter if the output values are the same as all other ports

Thank you for the suggestion. I don't have access to a voltmeter right now. Let me check, if any of my friends have it.

On a side note, right now I have a wireless keyboard and a wired mouse connected via this 'may-be faulty' USB port. Both are working as normal. So far, I haven't seen any random disconnects or any such issues. Problem comes when USB-HDD file copy/read is performed and that too not always.
