Acer Nitro 5 AN515-53 slow boot-up normal?

Lately with my Nitro 5, I noticed that it takes quite some time to load up to the windows log in screen. Much slower than any other laptop I have used before. This is not an SSD but I found it odd that it takes so long. From me pressing the power button getting to the windows log on, it takes 1:31. Then I click anywhere on the screen to actually input in my pw and it takes an additional 9 seconds to actually input in my password.

Is this normal?

    Hi,
    You could try disabling fast startup in power options, you can also disable few startup items in task manager.
    Press Ctrl+Shift+ Esc buttons together, move to Startup tab and disable unnecessary programs starting at startup.
    then go to power options(right click battery icon), click "Choose what the power buttons do", click "Change settings that are currently unavailable", untick the box for fast startup.

    I tried the suggested actions and am still seeing the same results. 
  • Try to disable some unnecessary services:

    Do a disk cleanup as administrator:

    I tried those steps and still am noticing slow boot up times.

    Verify this as soon as boot into the desktop or after I use the laptop for some time? 
  • When windows starts, hd will be at 100%! However he should not stay in 100% all the time! If hd stays at 100% all the time then this may be the problem of slowness!

    Okay. Yes at the start, the disk is at 100% at startup then it goes back to normal but the machine just now took a long time to start up. Stays on a black screen at boot-up and then I get to the windows login screen .

    Hi,
    Do you have any third party AV program installed? If so, disable or uninstall it and see whether it makes any difference.

  • @smartinez281! What is the exact model of nitro 5? Have you checked the version of windows 10 and bios? Have you checked if updating the video drivers on the intel website and nvidia solves the problem?

    @smartinez281! What is the exact model of nitro 5? Have you checked the version of windows 10 and bios? Have you checked if updating the video drivers on the intel website and nvidia solves the problem?

    Yes, my video drivers are up to date. My BIOS version installed is 1.19 and Windows 10 Home. Up to date.

    Thanks this solved my problem.
    Run>msconfig>enter>services>hide miscrosoft services>disable all>apply>restart>boom ( restarts within the blink of the eyes)

    Try this. It worked for me on my AN515-43 and believe me it improved my startup time which was around almost 3 minutes to around 30 seconds.

    Have you per chance installed a second memory module? I have an add on 16gb that has a slightly different speed than the one that came with the laptop and I am noticing the startup time seems to be affected by the memory module. It works fine otherwise.
