Acer monitor AL1714K screen remains dark

Good evening,

In the 'standby' position the orange indicator lights up and in the 'on' position the green one but the screen remains dark.

I now opened the monitor to check the capacitors but without a service manual it is hard to understand the circuit.

Can someone help me on my way to solve the problem?

    now turn off your computer.please unplug the cables from the tower.press and hold the power button for 30 secs.
    now turn on your computer .

    still not working......

    enter into the bios by tapping on f2 while you are turning on the computer.
    press f9 and hit enter.
    press f10 and hit enter to save the changes.

    still you see the same screen......

    the only option left out is system restore,reset and refresh.you can go by alt+f10.


    once it is done you can log in to your comp.and your comp looks like the brand new comp that you bought on day 1.

    Hi Sjenest,

    For a good understanding, with an other monitor everything works well. So I think the computer is not defective but the monitor is.

    Do you mean that the monitor needs to be reset?

    There is  a reset procedure for most Acer monitors that might help. Turn off and disconnect power, then press and hold the power button on the monitor for 30 seconds or so.. Reconnect and power on normally.

    Hello Billsey,
    Thx, this might help. My Samsung TV sometimes need to be reset and it's the same procedure: disconnect power and hold the power button for about 1 minute. I'll give it a try tomorrow or the day after tomorrow and keep you informed.

    I tried but the screen lights up very very briefly und not even fully….

    I don't yet have access to a service manual for those, so I can't look at how it's put together but it might be a failed or failing backlight. When it's in the failure take a flashlight and shine it at an angle on the screen, do you see your desktop faintly? Are you still in warranty?
