I didnt try to update anything on my own... It just started at the end of a day when I was restarting the laptop. I didnt do it, recognize it but it defintely has the Insyde HOFFF or something. I have been trying to do crisis disks or find a proper one for the aspire e5-571. I NEED some of those files for a big job

Try this first. Turn the laptop off. Remove the  charger. Gently insert a paper clip into the battery reset pinhole on the bottom for about 10secs. Then let the machine sit for 15mins. Then plug the charger back in and try to boot it up again. Jack E/NJ

I have done it now and fyi the little hole slides back and forth to also release the battery. I tried it with a pin and gave it 20 minutes unplugged. Nothing so far. Plugged in the AC and nothing... Im going to try it without the battery, just pressing the pin with nothing in.

And I found some stuff about the crisis disk, tryed to do the best with what was there.. But nothing so far... I should get directions to do that I go ones from bios-mods.com but they are definitley alittle incompete and the Insyde and pheonix are idenitical except for one

Download and unzip the ACER BIOS file. See if you can find a file with a BIN, ROM, or FD extension. That file should probably be renamed and copied to the root directory of a FAT32 formatted USB stick. Then we can try to re-flash the BIOS from the stick using the FN+ESC cold boot technique. I have unzipped it but it ends up being an exe file. And I reformatted it with several files on the wincris usb. I have renamedit as per what was specified on bios mods.com. everything looked sweet but there wasn't even a blink on LEDs. I'll get another going here but I need to know what to properly extract and we have to rename and file. Taking suggestions

I have successsfully gotten to wincris.exe to make a crisis key, My 31gb key is now 34MB I shuffled all the files I copied after placing the wincris1.0.0.14 files in the C:windows/SYSWOW64  (CLICK in the folder and it will  make your key... But I copied everyfile back to the new key and could get it to boot at all. Switched out the real acer bios. Renamed it BIOS.WPH and had the copy from SYSWOW64. Renamed the acer BIOS Z5WAH132(EXE) to Z5WAH1X64.FD
    And nothing after that.
I am trying to make an Minitool Media builder flash USB with WINPE
    Next Ill try RUFUS UEFI:NTFS
and so on until you guys find something OR i brick this other computer

    >>>Renamed the acer BIOS Z5WAH132(EXE) to Z5WAH1X64.FD>>>OR i brick this other computer>>>

On the other computer, try running the exe file to decompress it further. You're looking for a ROM, BIN, WPH or FD extension file. If nothing seems to further extract, or you get an error message, leave the error message open on the screen. Then with the error message still displaying, try  searching C:\users\yourname\ directory and its subdirectories for a file H2O*.* The ROM etc extension file may be in the same temporary subdirectory as the H2O file.

If you find it, the file should be renamed Z5WAHx64.FD. Note no '1' following the 'H'.  Then  copy the file to the root directory of an MBR-partitioned FAT32 formatted stick with an activity LED. No other files except the FD file should be in the stick's root directory.

Then with the machine off and stick inserted, press and hold the FN+ESC keys. Then turn the machine on. Don't let go of the FN+ESC till you see LED activity. If successful, the machine will either automatically turn off or reboot.

Unfortunately, in my experience, the FN+ESC flash method seems to fail a lot more often than not when we get to this point. Bricked. Meaning the chip's initial self boot instructions have likely been lost so it can't even see the stick to load further instructions needed to continue on with the boot process. Takes special equipment to re-load these instructions.

Going to test all of that right now. is there any way that I can plug a USB into my laptop and somehow activated so that I can collect the files off of it or even take the hard drive out and plug it into the hard drive port on the top of my tower. I thank you for your help I really hope this works. Yesterday a few times I could hear the fan spooling up a little bit but it didn't actually do anything or maybe I was supposed to hold it longer I don't know I appreciate everything thanks

Absolutely. The HDD can be connected to the USB port on another machine with an HDD-2-USB SATA adapter. Less than $10 on Amazon with free shipping on orders over $25. If the HDD hasn't had a hardware crash, you should be able copy personal files from its C : drive to the other machine's HDD and/or to another USB stick. Jack E/NJ

I will pull the old HHD out of the laptop and try and find the bios file in there. Put her back together and hope for the best. Otherwise Im gonna have to ask the guys at Memory Express to help. THEN PAY, and then maybe they will be able to work a miracle that I was unable to search up. And update the desktop at the same time.

Try the HSW.FD filename as is for the FN+ESC flash disk. Jack E/NJ
