I have an Acer R3-431-t and I have pretty much replaced and upgraded everything in this laptop bc well I love my laptop and don't want to get a new one!  I have replaced my mother board, screen, hinges I mean everything but the one issue I'm still having is video and internet so, from advice from here I replaced my wifi card to Intel 3160.HMWG.R Dual Band Wireless AC + Bluetooth Mini PCIe card Supports 2.4 and 5.8Ghz B/G/N/AC. Problem is when I'm watching TV my shows will start going slow and lag and freeze sometimes. Sometimes my internet will drop me, problem is it's just on my laptop my daughter will still be using her tablet while I'm restarting my laptop.. AGAIN! I'm not sure what to do my internet is consolidated communication and my plan is 20 Mbps and my speed tests usually hit about 18Mbps now someone on here recommended Intel 3160.HMWG.R Dual Band Wireless AC + Bluetooth Mini PCIe card Supports 2.4 and 5.8Ghz B/G/N/AC and idk if this would work better or if there's something else going on... Please help 😲

Uninstall, don't just disable, any non-Microsoft virus scanners running in the background. Windows Defender and MaliciousRemovalTool are all most folks need these days. Jack E/NJ

    Good Morning Heidicoder2479 !

Have you tried using an external USB card?

Yes I did and it didn't do anything but I'm actually starting to think that might VPN might be part of my problem i use express VPN and I've been in contact with them too trying to figure this all out bc one min I'll be using my net with VPN and the next it shuts down and the only way to get it back is restart my laptop

If you use VPN, depending on the provider, many configurations can block certain requests.
I suggest you start by checking this question.

It definitely was my VPN got all the settings figured out all works well thank you for your help.....I didn't want to make yet another post but if any one comes back to this post and knows what kind of ram I can get for this Acer that would be a big help I found one on Amazon but not sure if it's right or not I have a really hard time finding my exact model number for parts I have 2 extra ram slots I'd be adding an additional one that came factory

One of the RAM slots may be 4GB soldered and thus non-replaceable. The other slot may be filled with up to an 8GB module DDR3 laptop 1600 MHz speed or higher for a total of 12GB RAM. Check here for specs on compatible modules though you don't need to buy from this vendor https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Acer/aspire-r3-431t
