Hi!

I bought a new Acer Aspite M3. The fan is on all the time and is doing quite an anoying noise. Is this a fault on my computer or a design "feature" of Acer?

Thank you!

It's me again (I started this topic). It is so that after one day of working with the computer, the fan got silent. I don't know why, but now everythink is OK. It might have been a higher activity from the virus scan when first scanned the hard disk or it might have been some mechanical start-up issue. In any case, the computer is just fine now. A very nice laptop, recommended!

The fan on a laptop usually makes a "loud noise", that's perfectly fine. I doubt this is a fault.

I don't have this experience with portables. I have a Lenovo X200, a Mac Air, a Mac Book. All of these are perfectly silent most of the time, only when I do something with a high processor load the fan is on for a short time. The Acer has a Dolby Home Theater, so it is designed for music, "profesionally tuned", I expect it to be perfectly silent most of the time.

Thank you anyhow for your comment!
