My Predator Helios 300 is new and I am trying to install a secondary hdd on it to increase it's storage capacity. I can find my hdd on the system bios and device manager, but I can't view it on the disk management program. The drive simply doesn't show up on the program. I can see that it is connecting with the computer(via BIOS and device manager), but not working with the disk management system. I want to be able to format the hdd so I can use it for storage.

SendDunes thats a bit weird but use either cmd diskpart to check for the drive and format it or the easiest way is to probaly get easeus partition master or a similar formatting  software to format it and create any partitions you would want on it and by the way what was the drive you have upgraded to

I used the software, but it's only detecting my original hdd. I installed a Seagate 1TB ST1000LM024 5400RPM SATA 2.5" Laptop HDD on the underside slot to act as a secondary drive.

in Disk Management just give the new drive a drive letter. for e.g. D  or E: etc ...then it will be visible in windows.

Anyway it should show the drive as unallocated space then you would have to format it to assign a letter its really weird indeed Deejay_tech the OP stated the drive is not showing on disk management its weird because according to him its showing up in the bios

if it is not possible to give letter (since not visible in DM), use the "Clean" command in DiskPart.
the exact process is in the link below.

post back what happens if you need further help.

Were you able to figure this out?
    If not...
In windows 10, whenever you reinstall windows or add a new disk, you would need to go to disk management, and import the newly added disk. Only after that you'll be able to see the partitions on it, or perform any disk operations on it.

Control Panel - Administrative Tools --> Computer Management --> Storage --> Disk Management

sri369 Never noticed that option before buts its worth to try  i never had any issues on drives not appearing they always do and SendDunes you could also try to connect it using a usb dock/enclosure/adapter first to see if windows will finally recognize it and format it anyway its just another possible option to try :)

I was unable to find the drive under the disk cleanup since it only listed one option @Deejay_tech Meanwhile, I couldn't find that option for importing foreign disks @sri369 Also, @xapim how would I use a usb to connect it to my laptop?

@xapim Let me first start off by apologizing for how I may have come off earlier. I didn't intend for my message to show that I rejected any help because it was more about communicating that I had tried these options and I wasn't sure about what to do next. I'm sorry about that. All this technical stuff is new to me and I don't necessarily know the house rules of this community.

Here's a screenshot of my disk management. I can't see any blank disks that would indicate the presence of a second hard drive.

This is weird! I am strongly suspecting faulty hardware (drive) here.
