So.. As Im all to familiar with tech and the year/2 year support methodology I have to ask.. Are we who purchased this device (I did 4 days after release) finally left out into the wind? I have yet to see or even hear of any support towards newer versions of Android of late.

So, if this is the case could Acer finally release drivers (aside of the kernel) so n00bs like myself could do it on our own? OR some form of mod to put another OS on the thing like ChromeOS or even Linux (Ubuntu looks interesting).

Check the xdadevelopers website.  I'm not sure what their URL is, but just do an online search and you'll find them.  They have programs and mods for, it seems, almost every electronic device made.  They might very will have something for the A500.  I have the same tablet running ICS.  That's probably the last update for this model.  Most all companies give a very limited time of support to their products because they want people to purchase their latest and greatest product.  If they kept supplying updates to old products they'd never sell new ones.  Of course, everybody has enough money to purchase a new desktop, laptop, and tablet PC every one to two years, or so they seem to think.  If only it were true.  <sigh>
