Hey everyone :)

I’ve owned a Predator Helios 300 for a little over a year now and never had any temperature problems on any game (or anything for that matter) that I used on it, until I tried playing “Sekiro: Shadows die twice” on it.

the temperatures were way too high to say the least with the CPU being at 94c and GPU at 92c with the laptop also shutting down at one point due to the high temps.
Since this problem seems to be exclusive to this game only I tried to lower down the settings from high then medium to eventually low but nothing worked. I also tried using a laptop cooling pad but that also didn’t work to fix this problem. Lastly I tried undervolting to -0140 but this also didn’t help at all.
Anyone here have a solution?

CPU: i7-7700HQ
GPU:GTX 1060

What was your ideal temp while not gaming and while gaming a AAA game in both the cases ( charging/not charging).

while not gaming (charging) temps for cpu are 39c-43c with gpu sitting slightly lower at about 37c

while playing an AAA game (charging) CPU is at 70-77 and gpu 66-73

don't really remember any instances where i played an AAA game without charging so i can't specify that.

LocalWeeb did you optimized windows properly and used TS to undervolt or did you used xtu (if xtu use TS instead) and becasue this only seems to happen with this game (what other AAA games have u played) did you also undervolted your gtx, you would probably need to repaste/clean fans if nothing else worked also you need to specify the exact model you have and the windows version (bare in mind windows updates tend to make it even worse than what it was before) the only game i have max temps over 80 its MHW on ultra (if i get the settings lower the temps go down) all other games i have none goes that high including loads of AAA cant mention them all wouldnt know where to start because they are more than 500+ in total, my normal temps on ultra are 70/75 gpu 75/80 cpu anyway hope this helps and also i forgot to mention i have optimized windows/undervolted and repasted (with kryonaut) the 2nd week i got it

Most of the times it will make it worse i have permanently disabled windows updates on mine since day 1 never had any issue if you think that microsoft wouldnt screw up you system with their updates you are completely wrong (how many predators were bricked due to MS implemented bios updates through windows updates too many and 90% of the issues are always due to a recent windows update i wonder why :))  i will only update what i need when i need and manually its always the best course of action

As i said you dont need to keep you bios updated only update you bios via the Acer support page for your model if you have issues that could be solved by the update in question or access to new features apart form that theres no need for update because its a risky procedure i am still on 1.20 and i only updated once from 1.19 just for fun nothing serious

I mostly play overwatch and the temperature is much better than it is here. being around 65-75c on both cpu and gpu.
I did follow a windows optimization guide, did a TS undervolt and an MSI afterburner undervolt (all were made by Hotel Hero) but so far they seem to have only affected the temps very slightly lowering them by about 3c or so (currently running at 89c while playing which is still very hot).

    Thumb rules:
    1. Do NOT install feature updates within 90 days of public release (I have mine deferred for 365 days).
    2. Do NOT install non-feature updates within 15 days of public release (I have mine deferred for 30 days).

Windows 10 has gone from bad to worse in terms of updates on Windows 10 breaking systems more than once. Literally every update is bogged with issues.

Sometimes setting in windows settings doesn't seem to work, so i did my changes in Policy Editor (gpedit). And then disabled windows update service.

Try following the links in my signature and see if they help - these deal with windows power plan changes and TS and MSI.
