Adapter not providing sufficient power, getting around 8-11 watts on a 45 watt charger ,A315-41-R45R

HI , This issue has started to arise only from yesterday , This is a new laptop and hasnt completed even a month , I am running windows 8 that came with it and I bought it for a little bit of gaming , But I cannot do that Now as I lose battery even when I have plugged my machine in , I lose like 15 - 20 % in an hour or so and game lags too , I downloaded the battery info application and here is a screenshot I attached from it, it never shows 45 watts or 45000 Milliwatts , its always around 8000-12000 milliwatts and if i am lucky , it goes upto 20,000 rarely. Please if anybody could help me , I am using windows 10 64 bit Home with all updated drivers. I have not changed my location or the power socket where i usually plug the laptop in .

Does the notebook only discharge the battery when you play or use a program that requires more performance? If this is the case, it is a normal behavior in current notebooks, because when the motherboard realizes that it is necessary to provide more performance even when the notebook is connected to the power adapter, the battery power is also used!

I have a nitro 5 an515-51, which also has the same behavior as your notebook! Other users have also confirmed that this also happens in their notebooks! On older topics, moderators explained that this is a normal procedure to provide the best possible performance. Theoretically, this does not damage the battery, because it recharges automatically, when its charge reaches between 30% and 40%!

Hello , Thank you for your quick reply , yes I have updated the Drivers but no I have not performed a Battery Reset ! I haven't had a clip around me to poke into that hole yet , I will soon , But really , How much does it help ? wouldn't it just disconnect the battery for a few seconds ? and , for how long shall I hold it disconnected ?

Battery reset is not performed by removing the battery only.
The procedure will remove all the static charges to be taken in the calibration of the cells.

Perform the following procedures:
CALIBRATION AND BATTERY RESET

First, disable Quick Start in the power options and disconnect the notebook from the power outlet.

BATTERY CONTROLLER RESET
Access the device manager and look for the "acpi-compatible control method battery driver" and "Microsoft AC Adapter" and give it up.
Then restart the notebook for Windows to reinstall and remove any errors.

Process to reset the battery

    Disconnect the power adapter.
    Locate the hole to reset the battery in the bottom of the computer.
    He inserted a small clip into the hole. Hold the reset button for 05 seconds.
    Let the computer rest for 5 minutes without power.
    Plug in the power adapter and turn on the system.

External Battery Pack

If your notebook has an external battery, proceed as follows:
1- Unplug the appliance from the mains and then disconnect the battery.
2- Press the power button for thirty seconds, so that the static power is dissipated.
3 - Replace the battery and turn the unit on.

Process for calibrating the battery

For this, you must turn off the device and give a 100% charge.
Then unplug and use the battery until the battery runs out.
Reload it as before.
Repeat the process 3 times so that all cells are fully calibrated.

In fact, what occurs is from 80% a slow charge is supplied to the battery! Have you tried charging the battery 100% before you start playing?

yes it was at 100% when I start playing and then it stays at 100% for maybe 10 to 20 minutes and then it starts to go down , And I could feel stutters in the gaming , I am posting a log for my battery charging please let me know if you see anything abnormal here, the battery charging rate is in Milliwatts . I have a 45 watts ( 45000 milliwatts) charger which came with the laptop but the maximum current I get is 24 watts ( 24000 milliwatts ) Please see the log file and let me know if anything is wrong , I performed battery pin reset and I am now calibrating the battery .

I do not see anything wrong with your battery! Remember that from 80%, a slow charge is supplied to the battery. Also, note that you are trying to charge the battery with the notebook connected, and this will cause the power adapter to supply power to both the battery and other notebook hardware! For this reason, the power adapter is not providing its maximum capacity for the battery only. This will only happen if the notebook is turned off and that is why the battery charges faster when the notebook is turned off!

You can check if there is a problem with the power adapter by using a multimeter

hi , The Acer Care shows the Battery Health as "Good" , I think there is some other problem.

Hello EGYDIOCOELHO , Yes it does Discharge only when I play games , and I have figured out the root cause of it , I was Running Dirt 3 With the Max Settings and without any FPS Control , So Apparently , at high settings , That game runs smooth but it takes a lot of resources. Later I lowered the settings and locked the fps at 50-60 using the CHILL settings in RADEON SOFTWARE , And that Problem havent occured since.

I feel bad though , Because I wasnt told or it wasnt mentioned anywhere that this would be in issue, Yes, I know that for some people it wouldnt be an Issue , But for me it is an Information That I did not know before I bought this , If a machine is capable of delivering such an high performance it has to be provided with a better power supply , I am aware that most RYZEN 5 laptops come with 45 watt , But its just not enough if you want to use the machine to its full potential , They could have made it , lets say , 60 watts , which would have been just awesome.
