hi,

After having my Acer swift 3 for a while now and enjoying the laptop. Something strange happen the left arrow button wouldn't register. I have tried a keyboard register program and it dind''t register the keyboard key. when I reset the battery it would still not work. after a while it did sometimes work. but then i decided i was done with it and pulled the battery kabel out it would work all of the sudden. after i did this it works flawlessly. but the problem did occur again this week and now it wont function again. does anyone have a solution? i have already tried removing the driver in windows 10.

with kind regards,

A acer product user.

Any chance the battery is starting to swell and push on the keyboard from below?

Then it sounds more like a hardware problem with the keyboard than software. The fact that you're not even able to capture the key code when pressing the key acts like there is some sort of contaminant between the layer of the keyboard membranes, that stop the press from being recognized. It not easy to do any sort of additional diagnostics internal to the keyboard, they are pretty much just assumed to be a unit. That means the fix is either to ignore the issue and hope it doesn't spread, use an external keyboard except when necessary or replace the keyboard assembly.

Thanks for your answer billsey was what i was assuming but i dint know for sure. It already spread through multiple keys on the keyboard. I have contacted Acer for repair i still haven't gone through the 1 year warranty.

Great! Let us know how it works out. I'm guessing they'll just replace the keyboard assembly, but they might find some other cause...
