Help! My Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 CPU heating to temps over 90C when playing medium-high demand games!

I recently bought an Acer Nitro 5 and the CPU temps reach `95C when playing SWBF 2 in Medium settings, and other AAA games like Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect Andromeda, in High settings.

Should I consider a thermal repaste or servicing the laptop?

You can try undervolting the CPU with throttlestop. If that doesn't reduce the average CPU temps below 85C, then you can try lifting the laptop a bit higher on the hard surface(using books for example) or using a cooling pad. If you don't want to bother with cooling pads, then you have to repaste the CPU with a high quality thermal paste(recommened if you live in the US'because doesn't void warranty and are confident enough to disassemble the laptop) or send it to Acer(recommened if you are not in the US, because repasting it yourself will void the warranty).
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Predator and Nitro products are engineered to withstand higher operating temperatures than traditional notebooks. These systems include features that help with cooling and heat dispersion. The CPU and GPU are designed to handle temperature spikes in excess of 98 degrees Celsius without causing damage to the components. It is common for PC temperatures to spike temporarily during heavy gaming or graphic usage. If the system encounters excessive temperatures that could damage the hardware, it will automatically shut down to protect the components from becoming damaged.

The CPU reaching 98C means that it is thermal throttling or in other words it slowing down, which isn't normal. It is recommended that the average CPU temperature doesn't go higher than 85C.

had the same issue , unfortunately the problem is with your air vents at the back . go to you service center and you ll find a layer of dust clogging the vents . that causes increase in thermals and thermal throttling of the cpu . make sure to always use you laptop keeping it on a hard surface which is free from dust . :)

Saw your comment and cleared the clutter at the back of the laptop. This could be the issue, will visit the nearest Acer service center, living with my dad presently so will take a while.

@LeOndar Is you laptop still over heating?. Has it affected your laptop's life or can it withstand temp like 90-95°c??

I recently dropped some juice on the laptop and it has gotten worse. Earlier, it would stay stable at `80c with undervolting . Will visit service center and get back to you.

That's a big lie, you'll end up damaging your software. Don't fool others
