I re-installed windows since I bought and installed a new SSD. During and after installation, I noticed my touchpad is no longer working. I also checked the BIOS and the Touchpad option is no longer displayed. Also, nothing comes up if I check 'Mice and other pointing devices' in Device Manager. Please help. :(

If I remember it correctly, the Touchpad option disappeared when I upgraded the BIOS firmware to 1.13 from 1.11. Don't know if it's related or not tho. Hoping someone could answer. Thanks.

Correct answer: Rollback to 1.11 firmware, update windows then update to the latest FW upgrade. Wew! Thanks me! You saved me!

Sorry but that is an Incorrect answer !!!! Attempting to rollback BIOS update is very risky although in some cases possible and may result in turning the Notebook into a brick not to mention voiding the warranty,
Try this, go here to your support page https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/7605?b=1 and under drivers download and reinstall the touchpad driver and restart Notebook, if that is successful remember that Fn + F7 turns the Touchpad on off. Let us know if that solves the problem

Please click YES if I answered your question

Already did those. Did not work. The touchpad hardware was not detected in the first place, not in device manager nor in BIOS, so any tinkering in drivers would not do anything. I had to roll back to the previous fw version which detected the touchpad which was v1.11. And I dont think it voids the warranty in the first place. I dont think Acer can tell if the BIOS fw has been rolled back or what. In any case, I searched around but no one seems to have this kind of problem specially the part where Touchpad was not displayed in BIOS.

I didn't mean that rolling back would void your warranty, only if you rolled back and it bricked

You probably had a corrupt BIOS update, I have the same model as you and BIOS Version 1.13 and my touchpad works fine, try updating to 1.13 again

It's okay. I did a lot of research first before doing what I did. I was 95% sure it would work. And it did.

Updating using the same version is not allowed. The process to downgrade is the same as updating using the same version. But it's okay. I solved this one already. Thank you for replying tho. :)

Hi. This was ages ago. But as mentioned in one of my comments, I had to downgrade my FW version to 1.11, update windows and upgraded my fw to the latest version. If you are still not on the 1.17 version, maybe try updating to it.
