W510 crashes when playing video with HDMI connected

I have all the latest updates, and when I play protected videos (such as purchased movies through Microsoft) in the modern UI, it crashes instantly with BSOD. There's no problem with unprotected videos, and there's no problems in the desktop. I have the problem with several different apps, and it's only, when HDMI is connected.

Anyone else experience this? Any fix?

Did w510 connect to VGA input monitor ?

HDCP will be disable and it would make content protection video crashed if app detect HDCP is disable.

    Thanks for replying.

I have all the latest updates. Be it drivers, firmware and Windows Update.

It makes no difference whether the hdmi is connected to a vga adapter. It crashes, when something is going out through the hdmi port.

    Try downloading Bluescreenview:

    http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

It'll tell you exactly what driver is causing this, my guess is it's related to the Intel Gfx card, you might be able to botch together a driver, or find some settings that'll work Smiley Happy

    The BSOD message is "kernel_mode_exception_not_handled".

I'll try the bluescreenview and get back. I suspect the graphics card driver aswell, because as I understand it, the graphics card in w510 doesn't have a win8 driver from Intel but one, that I think Acer has put together.

I purchased and tried to stream the video in Microsofts native metro app: "video".

Side note: I've tried this on several w510s, and the same BSOD appears on all of them, so it's unlikely to be a problem with my personal settings.

There is a set of Z2760 drivers from the HP Envy with the latest Intel GFX drivers (1300) or from here which you can modify the PCI/VEN under the KMD.Mfg section of the GFX card to match the W510's in the INF. I have this working fine with HDMI.

Thanks, but I have no idea how to "modify to fit". Can you help me?

And just to be sure: You have it working with HDMI connected streaming purchased videos from the RT-app "Video"?

    PS. ? = 7 ~ F

    "Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator"= generic32_VEN_8086&DEV_08C7, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08C7

The computer bluescreens when streaming protected video from Metro UI whith any monitor connected through hdmi. All monitors show everything just fine, and it all goes blue, when I hit the play button.
