Hello, My HDD crashed and I replaced it in my Acer E5-575-33BM.  I reinstalled the drivers, but the Glidepad does not work any longer and it worked fine until I replaced the HDD - it even worked for a while after replacement, but I did a restore and then it stopped.   I have a USB ext. mouse that works pretty well but I prefer the glidepad.  I reinstalled all Drivers twice and it did not help.  Also, I am having trouble telling what device controls the Glidepad.  BTW, I have a Belarc report if that would help.  Any help with these questions?

Yes, that's where I got the Drivers from.  Yes, I have the latest MS Upgrade (1809).  The strange part is the pad worked when I installed the drivers initially, but I did a System Restore and again installed the Drivers but this time it did not work.   Can someone tell me the name of the driver that controls the Glidepad?  I assume it's either a Realtek or a Synaptics, and since I get a msg saying "no synaptics device detected" when I try to install that driver I assume it's the Realtek.  But that's an assumption but not confirmed.   Thanks for the comments -

Reinstalled the Synaptics driver and this time did not get the error about not having any Synaptics devices this time.  The glidepad still does not work but did not get the error.
  • Hello! Press f2 to enter the UEFI as soon as you turn on the notebook and look for the touchpad function. Switch to basic and then test!

Did as you suggested: changed from Advanced to Basic, saved and restarted.  Unfortunately, there was no change.  Now, my pad still does not work and I am using a Ext. USB Mouse.
What else can I do?  BTW, I checked the System folder\properties and the touchpad folders all said  "This device is working properly".  But obviously something is wrong.  BTW, I downloaded all the Drivers and installed them one by one from the Acer webpage, but initially I must have accessed the Acer Care Center because all the drivers downloaded automatically and I did not have to install each driver manually.   When things loaded like this, the glidepad worked as it should.  But I needed to do a System Restore and had to start over.  The ACC really made things easier.
BTW, the Device Manager says "this device is working properly" for each device.
    TIA

unfortunately, no.  Current drivers have been installed and reinstall.  Latest vers of MS 1809 is installed .  When I replaced the HDD I reinstalled W10 and the mouse worked.  But I needed to do another restore and this time the glide will not work.  Are there any other places I can look for answers?
    TIA -

OK! Now switch the touchpad function to advanced again and then go to the device manager and inform us of the error code that is shown!

Thanks to all who responded, I'm kinda embarrassed to admit I found the problem after reading about a possibility on another forum. Someone mentioned there may be a key which can turn the glide pad Off/On. I found that my F7 has a Fn key that will turn it on or off!  I cannot imagine why that is needed but there it is!  sometimes it's the simple fix that works!
    Thx agn
