Boot priority reverts each restart?

I installed an SSD into the spare 2.5" slot on my Helios 300. On the next boot Windows didn't load. I went into the UEFI and found that the new SSD was top of the boot priority order instead of the m.2 with the OS.

Nbd, switched the order back, F10, save and exit. Windows loads fine! However, on the next restart Windows doesn't load again. Back to UEFI, lo and behold, the boot order had reset itself again with the SATA back on top. Nothing I've tried can get the setting to hold through a restart. I tried disabling Fast Boot and then disabling Secure Boot (which required BitLocker recovery). Disabled fast startup in Windows power options. Not sure what else to try.

Thanks!

Hopefully I'm not celebrating too soon, but I think I finally fixed this. Acer posted a 1.26 version of the BIOS/UEFI on May 14th. The patch notes only say, "Fix F9 load default then save & shutdown will power on issue," which seems unrelated, but I flashed it anyways. Since then the m.2 drive has maintained boot priority after several restarts!

Have you tried a battery power drain let i rest for awhile and after connect to AC again load bios setup defaults then boot into bios again for the second time to set the boot order and save to see if it fixes it ? if the bios still not saving could be the cmos battery which its very weird as the cmos batteries usually last for years

It's a brand new purchase, so that would be disappointing if it's the CMOS battery. I'll unplug the AC adapter and drain the battery tonight and see if your suggestion works.

After the battery power drain let it rest for 1h or so then try what i suggested above and yes if its brand new as i said its very weird might be just a bug in the bios probably if the problem still persists after check if is there a bios update available for your model might fix it

No luck. I let the battery drain down till it shut itself off. Then waited about 90 min. Booted into UEFI and loaded the default settings. Restarted and changed the boot order again. Saved and exited and Windows loaded. Restarted and Windows didn't load. The boot order reverted back to prioritize the SATA drive again.

I'm not sure it's CMOS related because other settings in UEFI don't change after I save them, such as disabling Fast Boot or Keyboard Lighting Timeout. The only setting that gets changed after loading Windows once is the boot priority order. So frustratring.

I'm using version 1.25 of the InsydeH20 Setup Utility, which should be the latest as of 3/20/19.

Any other thoughts on what to try?

Try the below way, via windows, and see if that helps:

No luck.  That article just describes how to get into the UEFI in a roundabout way.

Anyone else have problems when adding a 2.5" storage drive to the Helios 300?
