Is it possible? If not how good will performance be if I use rtx card externally?

This is not possible since the video card is soldered on the motherboard! Maybe you can install a egpu on the second-generation 3.1 usb port, but it's an expensive procedure and that might not work!

    No, not possible.

You might be able to upgrade the vga in laptops which have different revisions with faster vga, because usually the mb layout is the same. However that needs a lot of bga work.

However rtx is out of the question, it is too different architecture.

Check the mb, if there is space for 2 extra vmemory modules, you can upgrade it to GTX 1070 or if you dont mind your laptop melting, then 1080.
However you need the Nvidia chip, the same memory modules and a very skilled techinican with bga equipment.
These are hard to come by.

tl;dr;: theoritically it is possible but it is not cheap and a hard process.
  • @fejerm! Replacing a gtx1060 video card with a gtx170 is possible. However, the technician must solder the new graphics chip and in addition, must acquire a new bios compatible with the new graphics chip. In my opinion, this procedure is not worth it!

Given the cost of the RTX GPU and the external enclosure; you might as well buy a new laptop with an RTX card.

And an egpu might not even work properly does your predator 15 has Thunderbolt ? if no forget it if it has as it was already said might work and might not but even if it would work dont expect full performance on an egpu u qould probably only get 60%/70% no not worth it it would probably only work on the latest/newest gen thunderbolt ports and not many laptops have it yet if any at all
