Speakers / Headphones not working for some reason

Turned on my laptop(acer predator helios 300, g3-571) this morning and no sound at all, just a slight hissing sound on my headphones. If i test the speakers i hear the most tiny sound possible, and music as well. Sound is there but almost non existent.

Things i tried: I uninstalled the sound driver and reinstalled the one from acer website, no luck. Troubleshooted the audio driver, no luck. Disabled dolby audio or any sort of enhancements, no luck. Ran a virus scan and seems clear, i am running SFC / scannow and i will see if that works in-case it's an issue with windows but i have to doubt it, i don't think any windows updates were installed recently.

Any answers?

You can try a battery power drain just to see if it works and reset bios defaults also perform a windows start in debug and directory/drivers restore if nothing works seems to me it might be a faulty hardware probably

tried the battery drain (opened it up, disconnected battery and held for 30 seconds) , and defaulted the bios , no luck. i don't think it's the drivers cus i uninstalled, rolled back and updated again the sound driver and no luck on either instances. my headphones just has a slight hisssss sound, and music is like 0.5% audible. hopefully it's nothing serious but it looks like it ;(

Have you checked in the windows CP the sound options just to verify its all on max on properties and if the correct sound device its set to default (again this is just an hunch to try to see if its only software related or more) after this if youre still on warranty i would contact your seller/shop or acer support and probably ask for a warranty repair/replacement because it might also be faulty hardware and i would backup everything you might need before you send anything to warranty as im pretty sure they will wipe everything clean to also try to figure out if its software or hardware

the issue with the warranty is it's 2 year 'carry in', and is only valid in the states (i'm not from there) so i think this is a difficult situation. Wouldn't i have to take a flight to the states? Haha not doing that.

Couldn't i try load another OS from a USB stick and see if it works? if not wouldn't it be hardware.. i opened it up and everything looks in place.

It might look all in place, but you might not be able to make out a burnt chip.

Use the display driver uninstaller software (overlook the name; it allows to remove some sound drivers too) to completely remove audio drivers and hardware.
    Restart.
    Install Acer drivers.

tried that now, no luck. actually no buzzing now, sound completely gone but you still see the sound being detected anyway. i would switch up to another OS but something tells me it's probably more serious. pity, any way to order in a new sound card if they sell those?
