I ordered this laptop back in December and have been happy with it except for one thing, which i cant figure out how to correct.

Since it has a good intel CPU, it comes stock with an integrated gpu that the computer uses by default to save power. Makes sense, buy good stuff get more. And the refresh rate while using the integrated gpu is 144hz, what i ordered. However, when i disable the integrated gpu to use the dedicated gpu only, the refresh rate changes to 64hz. If the numbers were reversed, it might make sense, but it doesn't here. So while playing games with my pretty decent gpu, my screen wont output more than 60/64hz, vs the 144hz that the actual display is rated for and capable of with the integrated gpu.

I have updated all drivers, windows is at latest update, nothing else to download as far as i can tell. Any help?

Whats your model number? Is it capped out at 64hz on all games that you play? If thats the case its more than likely a setting, check your ge force experience and your 3d settings to check and see if anything is capped at 64hz.

As you can see, it straight up changes how it functions. The 64hz is running the 1060, and the 60/144hz is running, well as it shows, the UHD graphics. It's not based per game. It's so weird. So while in games the generated fps is like 100+, the monitor is saying it wont do it.

So when you use your iGPU at 144hz, you get good frames during gameplay?

When i use my iGPU, if the game isnt harsh enough (say, minecraft), yes. But if i want to play another game using the dGPU, (say GTA5 and mess around, lowering settings a bit to get high fps), the dGPU will render the frames but will not display them. It's like getting over 1000 fps, no monitor can display it but the fps counter will go sky high anyway (assuming gsync is off)

Are you using an external monitor? Also what is your devices model number?

So to add more to the story, the reason why i would disable the igpu is because when playing demanding games my laptop wouldnt switch to using the dgpu, despite the igpu struggling. And i just realized that when i disable the igpu,  i cant access the NVIDIA control panel, saying i dont have an NVIDIA gpu connected, even though if i go into the task manager it appears to be in use. So im wondering if there's some weird functionality where the controls for the NVIDIA gpu are routed through the igpu or something.

Ya it sounds like its definately not noticing the gpu being connected. I would try unistalling your gou drivers and do a fresh install.

The model number is Predator PH315-51, and no. It's the monitor built in to the laptop. That's why it's so strange.

Why would you disable iGPU to use dGPU? It gets switched automatically depending on the task that you have started to perform for every Predator device.

As i said a bit ago, it was not doing exactly that. I gave up. But either way, the situation still shouldnt be happening.

Yup, saw that now. In NVIDIA control panel, go to Set PhysX Configuration and select it to Auto. If that doesn't work, uninstall your NVIDIA (through DDU) and Intel Graphics drivers and again install the ones provided in Acer Support site. Order doesn't matter but install Intel's and then NVIDIA's. Check if your issue is resolved or not. If yes, simply update your NVIDIA Driver from GeForce Experience.
