Summer is gearing up and it's heating up. Now, whenever I play Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 my Helios 500 shuts down - it's an immediate shut down. I don't even have overclocking turned on.
Considering that the laptop fan pulls "cool" air in from the bottom, what laptop cooling platform is well suited?

There are few Helios 500 laptops so you will need to specify which one

Further more, please tell me your CPU/GPU temps while you are playing! You can read them from PredatorSense Software

    I've got the:
Acer Predator Helios 500 PH517-51-98Y7 17.3" IPS 144 Hz GTX 1070 8 GB VRAM i9-8950HK 16 GB Memory 512 GB SSD + 2 TB HDD Windows 10 Home Gaming Laptop

I would love to state the CPU/GPU temps whilst playing - however - when I am playing I am barely conscious of my body. So inevitably I forget to check temps periodically. It would be AMAZING if PredatorSense tracked the history and persisted the data through unexpected shutdowns. When the computer turns off - it's off immediately!

Use msi afterburner or hw monitor it will tell you your real temps not just spikes u have the i9 beast if youre having thermal issues which u shouldnt as your beast has the best cooling system on any gaming laptop so far (but seems youre having as u stated it shuts/crashes down itself)  have u optimized windows/undervolted and last resort repaste it with a good thermal paste like kryonaut or with similar specs,  if u dont have thermal issues i dont see the need for a cooling pad as if you just lift it up some inches it should be more than enough with fans on auto coolboost on but if you are looking for a good one check the coolermaster notepal xl best i ever had mine is already 3 years old or so only needed to clean it once im not using it on my gaming laptop im using in on mi hp mini 210 lol it keeping in at  25/30 stable :p

PS: dont forget you cpu is overclockable :p now i wish i had it xd

I bought this beast in September 2018 (and the name of this computer is "BeastMaster" lol) - but lately every day it shuts down with COD:BO4
Like imagine my team is winning, then the next second my laptop is off as if the battery was taken out! I've looked at the event viewer and all it shows is:

The previous system shutdown at 1:10:34 PM on ‎4/‎30/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 1:23:45 AM on ‎4/‎29/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 10:56:46 PM on ‎4/‎28/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 10:39:33 PM on ‎4/‎28/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 12:38:46 PM on ‎4/‎25/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 4:29:32 PM on ‎4/‎24/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 4:01:08 PM on ‎4/‎16/‎2019 was unexpected.
The previous system shutdown at 8:48:34 PM on ‎4/‎2/‎2019 was unexpected.

I've made sure the BIOS firmware is up-to-date
I haven't repasted the CPU. I would prefer to not have to tear it apart - that's why I spent the big $$$
I have been too scared recently to overclock it (I only get about an extra 10-15FPS) and I get 130-145FPS during gameplay anyway.
Fan holes are clean (on the bottom and top) - I regularly dust my computer (still looks brand new)
I haven't tried to undervolt it

If I'm not playing COD:BO4 this laptop is solid; I can h265 encode video files no problem and at the same time open a load of Chrome tabs, whilst doing other stuff - and the performance is solid.

Either its overheating or its a game bug

I've installed both monitoring apps: hwinfo and MSI Afterburner
    - hwinfo free version doesn't log to file - which is what I need because once the PC turns off, there's no time to look at the app. LOL. So I uninstalled that.
    - MSI Afterburner is free too but it logs to file. However, app states that there's a performance hit though. So I am going with the remote monitoring option to show data on my Android phone. When the PC turns off I'll be able to look on my phone (HOPEFULLY).
Unfortunately, setting up MSI Afterburner is non-intuitive. So I'll have to research and watch videos when I have time... in a day or so.

Right now, MSI Afterburner looks like the best free option.

I've collected the cpu temp whilst playing. You can see in the chart that the temp went to 97C and 98C, I presume when it shut down before it reached 100C.

The chart also shows that I solved it:
    1) I elevated the front of the laptop a little bit (by the height of a pencil) to improve airflow underneath
    2) in predatorSense, in the FAN CONTROL tab, I turned on "Coolboost" and kept Fan Speed set to "Auto"

The game hasn't been shutting down since this change.

It's funny that one can identify when there's an intermission between matches - the temp dropped to about 77C
