Another Temp Question

For fun I turned up my framerate to 60 while playing anthem, the game is definitely more enjoyable at higher framerates. That being said my temps ran, what I feel, is a little higher than what I'm normally comfortable with. I know the bigger the load the higher the temps, but how does everything look? I'd really like to keep playing at these settings.

Yup as i said definitely weird this one have u tried with the TS profile @Red-Sand has in the fb group ready made for your cpu just wondering if you would get a better result or would be the same bare in mind that TS will not work properly with xtu installed you would have to remove xtu completely reboot and install ts and load the profile

It looks like you're both Power Limit and Thermal throttling. You can see in XTU, both fluctuate between Yes and No in the graph.

94C is a little high even for peak temp. BDPROCHOT on some models is as early as 96C. 77C is also a little hot for the GPU, but not bad. I think once you get the CPU temps under control, the GPU will benefit from the lower ambient temps within the laptop.

Have you re-pasted the laptop with new thermal paste? Are you undervolted at all? Both will help reduce temps.

Undervolted to -140, repasted with thermo grizzly twice, windows optimized for gaming, ambient temp at 20°c with a cooling pad with good airflow on all sides.

So did u got the temps down after repasting and undervolted ? (i would use TS instead to undervolt instead of xtu)

The temps posted in the pictures above were with all the adjustments made. I tried both XTU and TS and found I get less throttling while using XTU maybe im just not using TS properly even though i followed red sands videos, maybe ive missed something Even though the graph says i had throttling, if you notice, my cpu hz is unchanged other than when it actually thermal throttles, youll notice where power throttling switches to No on the graph my cpu hz drops as well but is otherwise unchanged. Maybe Im simply pushing the machine past its operating limits but i would think a 1060 6gb and i7 8750h, would be able to play that game no problem even at a higher resolution.

Yup you specs should be just fine that's very weird indeed either you got the silicone lottery or your repaste is somehow the reason

If it were the thermal pasting, it would be because i used too little, first try i used too much so i cleaned it up and used substantially less. But at idle my cpu is low 40s °c and gpu is at high 30s °c. My fans normally turn off at idle.

I guess i could try another re-paste. But that would be 3 in the course of 6 months, i should have just sent it back to acer when it was still under warranty

I just edited my post above dunno if you already read it give ts a try again before repaste it the i7 8750h they tend to run a lot hotter that other cpus but after the tweaks they should behave the same as any other i can say TS and repaste dropped my temps down 25+ but again i only have an i5 7th gen

So I got that TS all set up and downloaded the custom file for my cpu and man did that make a difference!
