Hey there. I've had this problem for ages. First I'll take you through what I've already done.

  1. I've factory reset my PC, both cold boot and regular old windows factory reset.
  2. I've uninstalled the drivers and restarted
  3. I've downloaded Acer's sound drivers (which are broken to ***** by the way) for the laptop and restarted.
  4. I've uninstalled, deleted, and ultimately removed Acer's realtek driver and tried the generic windows sound device.
  5. I also tried setting how the connection worked in the realtek audio controller thing
I have done everything, my friends, to remedy this situation, but after 4 months of this I'm tired of it. I open my sound menu, there is no Microphone device, only stereo mix and microphone array. I have no microphone unless I literally uninstall my drivers, use generic windows drivers, but the only microphone I get is my external one. I'm currently using an external sound card so that my microphone on my headset works, but it's a pain in the *****. Yes, I have my disabled devices unhidden.
