Speakers only playing from left side of laptop - Acer Predator PH315-51-78NP

Hi guys I just recently purchased the Acer Predator PH315-51-78NP (Helios 300) and the speakers only seem to be playing out of the left side of the laptop rather than the left & right. Is that how its manufactured or is the laptop defected? Also the laptop boasts having Dolby audio but when I checked Device Manager only Realtek shows up? I'm pretty new at this so please cut me some slack, thank you!
Heres a picture of the driver, I read somewhere online to uninstall Realtek and "hopefully" Dolby will show up but that seems a bit risky lol.

@rkietn hi have you check the left/right balance on speakers sound properties if the balance is ok and if still no sound uninstall the realtek driver and reinstall it using the acer stock driver for you model download it from acer support and if even after all this still no sound i would recommend to contact your seller/shop or acer support itself for a warranty repai/replacement

rkietn said:Do you know if they would be able to send me just the audio parts to fix myself? Or would I have to send in the whole laptop? It seems like such a hassle when I just received the laptop 3 days ago..

Well, try this once. Click the hidden icons arrow at the bottom right of task bar and right-click on Speaker icon. Then click on Sounds. Now, click on playback tab. Select the speakers and configure it. You can test both the speakers there. If it still doesn't help, follow what @xapim said and get it replaced under warranty.

This is the default speaker. My driver version is 6.0.1.8564. And Dolby Audio is available as an app. Just run it.

Thank you everyone, I ended up calling Acer and what they offered me was warranty replacement. Instead, I ended up ordering a replacement from Amazon at no extra charge (where I purchased the laptop) and I'll just copy my files over. Hopefully the speaker works this time! ETA 2 days from now vs 3-4 weeks0

Good day, OP! How were you able to get that resolution from Acer Tech Support? I have the exact same problem and they're asking me to send it in, and I won't get it back until that are done fixing it which could take up to 7 business days after they receive the laptop. I cannot afford to be without a computer for 10+ business days and my Helios 300 is my main computer for business stuff .I bought it back in late Jan 2019 from NewEgg. I am still hoping for a resolution the same as yours. Thank you!0

rkietn said:I didn't go through Acer support because I didn't want to wait for warranty. I purchased the laptop from Amazon, so I contacted their customer service and am getting a replacement sent through the mail. I am currently holding onto the one I have right now until I receive the new one; then I simply have to drop the faulty one off at one of Amazon drop-off locations! Not too sure how Newegg works but maybe try contacting them first to see if they could do the same for you. Hope this helpsHI, RKIETN ! Thank you for your reply ! AW, MAN, LUCKY YOU! I could have gotten it replaced through NewEgg as well but I'm already outside their replacement period. They have 30 day replacement policy and I'm close to my 2nd month with my Helios, so I have no choice but to go through Acer warranty. What's painful for me is that I need my laptop for my job/livelihood/business, so I cannot afford to be without it for more than a few days . So now I'm not quite sure what to do. Do I just get external speakers and "live with" this damaged right speaker until I can afford to send it back? I just can't send it to Acer right now since I have a lot of work stuff going on. And I don't have a backup laptop that is comparable to Helios' performance . I'm definitely going to send it back to Acer someday, just not know when. I'm really glad it worked out great for you! I wish my laptop's right speaker gave out sooner .0

XdxD said:Well, whenever you send, do it before your warranty expires. Btw, by any chance, did you ever install Windows 10 from ISO file? With which Windows 10 build did your Predator ship?HI ! It already came with Windows 10 built-in ! Do you think I should do a fresh Win 10 reinstall and that MIGHT fix it?Thankfully Predator comes with 2 year warranty so I have 2 years to send it in. Maybe when I get the chance to borrow another laptop to use, then I'll send it in.BTW, if anyone out there have any clue or suggestions to revive my dead right speaker, feel free to chime in.I was really VERY HAPPY with my Predator Helios 300 until this speaker ***** happened, UGH @_@!0

Dolby audio is not a driver. Install Acer's sound driver of your computer and search for DAX2. If you find it install it. After click on dolby audio (or dolby atmos my pc is not opened) and close virtual surround. Or if closed open. Try them if they give sound in only 1 speaker you can try make settings in HD Audio Manager.0
