Just last week I had a similar situation. Laptop was plugged in but every few minutes I'd get this low-ptiched "boop". As if I had pulled the plug or the battery was near critical level. But everything seemed fine. Until the next morning when I turned it on again. Booted normally. An occasional boop like the night before. Did my work for an hour or so. Took a break. Came back to a dead machine. Major panic. To make a long story short, after a frantic few troubleshooting hours, the problem was narrowed down to the charger's AC plug was making only intermittent contact with the AC receptacle. Every so often, power was lost causing the boop sound. Probably was arcing enough inside the receptacle to eventually cause a permanent power loss and eventual battery drain. The wall plug was very last thing I checked of course. Arrrgh! Jack E/NJ
Ok I'll have to check if I have similar problems because I usually leave the laptop on battery so I don't know if my cat messed with the battery core at home

    Cheers!
