My self and other Acer Aspire 7 users have reported problems with the Acer Aspire A717-72G-76V1, having problems with coil whine. It appears when the cpu goes above 3.0ghz. If I disable turbo boost in the  throttlestop program, the CPU rests at 2.2ghz and the coil whine doesnt appear. I know this is an issue that cant be fixed with an update, this has to do with a cheap motherboard. I Hope this can be fixed with the next refresh.

Ive tried two different machines and they have the same problem.

Is this more like a ~3KHz squeal or 100Hz buzz? Jack E/NJ

At about 1:00 I can hear a high pitched screeching-like noise, which sounds like a coil whine. The noise is not present, while the device is booting, so it isn't the fans or any other mechincal component, therefore it comes down to coil whine.

Sorry to hear about your tinnitus @JackE, it must be extremely loud since you don't hear frequencies above 1500Hz.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Have same issue, I know it is hard to hear on the video, but it is really annoying. Have you repaired somehow or had is repaired? Does the warranty cover this?
My Aspire only buzzes when plugged in

That's different than coil whine which is much higher frequency. The buzz is likely lower frequency AC 50-60Hz interference from some other appliance on the same circuit as the charger. Try moving the charger to another circuit, preferably to another room. Jack E/NJ

Returned mine a long time ago, got an Overpowered Laptop 17+ when they were still selling them at walmart for 1k last year.
