It seems as though we are not getting the full functionality of this display as is intended. First off, it uses DisplayPort 1.4 and can manage 4K resolution at 120 Hz in 10-bit uncompressed RGB just fine on a mac but not in Windows.

Secondly, the manual claims it can run HDR and FreeSync in 120 Hz. It seems like a Firmware update would be good thing for this display. Right now, HDR mode disables FreeSync and I don't really see why. Also, 4K-144 Hz mode is not all that useful without FreeSync or HDR support and currently neither work for it. FreeSync being disabled due to the nature of dual DP1.4 cables and HDR not being selectable in the Display Settings in Windows using two cables.

The limits of DisplayPort 1.4 make it so that 4k 120Hz RGB (no chroma subsampling) is only possible with 8-bit colors. You can do about 98Hz with 10-bit colors, or you can get higher refresh rates and 10-bit colors by using chroma subsampling which is no good for desktop use. Your Mac is lying to you or you're interpreting it wrong.
