Hi, I have a Acer Swift 5, SF514-52T in which the microphone has stopped working since the latest windows update. The microphone doesn't appear in device manager under 'Audio inputs and outputs', nor under sound settings 'recording' (right click on speaker icon bottom right hand corner screen?) In windows 10 settings under sound, under 'input' there is no input device found? How can I fix the issue? what is the correct drive and steps to download to resolve? Thanks in advance.

Someone asked me to download the latest version of BIOS from Acer official web and install it.
The microphone driver had been properly installed after that.

    >>>under 'input' there is no input device found?>>>>

If you click on 'recording devices' a sound box should pop up as shown below. Is this completely empty under recording tab? Jack E/NJ

Hi Jack, please see some screenshots from my PC. The internal mic isn't showing anywhere within any of the settings. Hopefully you might have a solution for me?

    Thanks

Hey JackE, I've been able to resolve my problem. A glitch on the acer support site wouldn't let me access to the drivers. I've now downloaded the audio driver and reinstalled and problem is fixed. Thanks for your initial response and offer to help. Much appreciated.

    Hi,

I am suffering from the same problem as
Hassaman above. "The microphone doesn't appear in device manager under 'Audio inputs and outputs', nor under sound settings 'recording'."
Despite I downloaded and installed the latest driver from Acer official web (released on 4.1.2019), the problem still the same.
Any more tips helping me on solving this problem ?

    Thanks in advance.

Right click on the microphone device. Uninstall its driver. Exit Device Manager. Then reboot the machine an let Windows automatically re-detect the microphone hardware and automatically re-install the driver. Then check Device Manager again to see if the yellow warning disappears. Jack E/NJ

I had tried to uninstall the said driver, reboot the machine and let the Windows detect the microphone automatically.
But still having problem on finding the right driver.
The yellow warning tag still there.
I called Acer technical support today, thry said that the problem should be from Windows 10 latest update.  Need to wait Windows 10 to add the driver or bring the machine to Acer Technical Support to fix the problem.

    Unhappy to hear that.
JackE, thanks for your help indeed.

My external headset mic does not work when plugged into the computer. the BIOS is 1.7 (up to date).

Have downloaded and updated the Intel mic driver; says it is latest driver.  The RealTek driver same thing. see attached screen shots. Any ideas?

Yes. The headset plug is not making proper contact inside the jack to disconnect the internal mic and connect to the external mic. You probably need an OMPT headset with the ground ring furthest from the tip. Jack E/NJ
