Insert SSD in Nitro 5 - Samsung Evo 970 NVMe m.2 2280 AN515-52

Hello Everybody,

Does anybody know if the Samsumg Evo 970 NVMe m2 2280 would be compatible with a Nitro 5AN515-52 (NH.Q3MEP.013) - So i5-8300H, 8gb RAM, GTX 1050?

Definitely having only HDD in the Nitro 5 is a big bottleneck and therefore this upgrade, for me and my needs, are necessary.

    I doubt NVME works .SATA m.2  SSD like 860 evo should work

    I think it does work with NVMe but I saw something about possibility that Nitro will work only with 2 lanes. Since I'm out of the PC gaming for about 10 years, I'm really not updated with current situation.

    If it does work only with 2 lanes, is it still worth to get a powerful SSD such as 970 evo or should I go to a simpler one since it has a limitation anyway? Just trying to find out the best SSD for this pc.

    My purpose will be light gaming but I definitelly need faster boot and more responsiveness opening files, transfering, etc.

    My pc is  5AN515-52 and image is from HWiNFO64.

    If it is possible to insert a m.2 NVMe, is it really worth comparing to a m.2 SATA? considering it is worth, a high quality Samsung Evo 970 is good option or can I go for less expensive m.2 NVMe's options? All considering 256gb.

    Wow, it looks like I have a new PC now. Difference with SSD is HUGE (and I mean really HUGE). Absurd faster boot times, no crashes, no 100% disk usage, much faster to open windows / apps (even Chrome or even games). Now I am satisfied with my setup. Highly recommend to anyone using a Nitro 5 only with HDD - upgrade NOW to SSD (there is one free m2 slot).

    Yes! The speed difference is absurd! However there are some settings that should be made to optimize the use of ssd!
    a) Activate the trim!
    b) disable fast booting on bios and fast start up on power options.

    Is your samsung evo 970 ssd looked like this?

    Hi, a sent my laptop to an authorized service center to install a nvme m.2 1tb on my acer nitro 5 an515-52 . The model of the drive is XPG GAMMIX S11 Pro 1tb PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 from ADATA.  The problem is they told that the  nvme was faulty because it was undetected in Windows. They told me it was rare to happen. I asked him if he had tested it in any other devices and he said he didn´t. So I took my drive to a pc components store to test it on other devices and it appears my drive Works just fine.

     

    So I don´t know if the guy working on the authorized center couldn´t manage to installed it properly, or if there is no compatibility with my laptop. The Pc components store said to me that maybe I should change my drive for another with lower capacity because sometimes 1tb can´t be handled in acer nitro 5.
