Hi all. last night my laptop was working fine. woke up this morning. travelled for about 40mins. booted it up without plugging the charger, it started, the Acer logo showed up but then went off shortly afterwards (this is normal for my laptop since its battery is dead - can not keep the laptop on for longer than 3 mins). Anyway, I plugged the charger but unlike always, this time no led whatsoever lit up. nothing at all is happening. And ofcourse the laptop wont start. What could be the problem?
How can I resolve this? The charger works fine by the way. Thank you all

You've been lucky so far. Remove the battery ASAP before trying to use it again plugged in.   Jack E/NJ

ok. so is a dead battery bad for the laptop. i did not know that. also. what should i do now. even if i remove the  battery and plug it into power supply sometimes it does not work. sometimes it does. What should i basically do to have it work reliably and consistently again. sometimes it just stops taking in power - this is with the battery plugged in though. it has never done this with the battery plugged out.

A dead battery with an internal short can damage the power button board. Remove the dead battery! Jack E/NJ

we measured the voltage output and it is indeed 19V. am I mistaken? The charger is also about 4 years old

Charger's open circuit voltage seems OK as long as it doesn't trip off under load. So let's assume it's OK. And the charger has never done this before with the battery "plugged out". Does "battery plugged out' mean the same thing "battery removed" from the laptop?  Jack E/NJ

now am confused. can you explain the difference? What do you mean by battery plugged out? is that not take it out of the laptop? Or does it generally mean something else in this case?

"Plugged out" terimini kullandınız. Bu terim normalde İngilizce dilinde kullanılmaz. Dizüstü bilgisayar artık pilsiz açılmıyorsa, bu durum muhtemelen güç düğmesi kartının nihayet başarısız olduğu anlamına gelir. Esnek düz şeritli kabloya (FFC) ve ACER parça numarasına sahip pano aşağıdaki resimde gösterilmektedir. You used the term "plugged out". This term is not normally used in English language. Sorry if the laptop will no longer turn on without the battery, then this probably means the power button board has finally failed. The board with the flexible flat ribbon cable (FFC) and ACER part number are shown in the image below. Google "55.M8SN5.002" without the quotes for possible vendors/sellers that will ship to Istanbul. Jack E/NJ
