Is there a way I can set a custom fan curve on my Acer Predator 17X, I always set it to max while I game, but it doesnt to be at maximum speed in loading screens and stuff. If I leave the fans at auto, the temps get way too high and I would like to set a custom fan curve. I tried using SpeedFan but it wasnt able to detect my fans.

You can't set a custom fan curve. I have tried with MSI after burner and it doesn't detect the fans. The only way you can set the fans to spin faster is to enable cool boost from quick access application, but it boosts the speed with about only 200RPM. Only enabling turbo fan makes the fans spin at maximum speed.

If Acer tweaks the Predator Sense for custom fan speed then we can have it.
Always post the following characterisitcs of the device:
    -Model number
    -Part number(not required, but helpful)
    -CPU
    -GPU
    -Operating system

Helios 300 and Nitro 5 users DO NOT update the BIOS to version 1.22 if you don't want the keyboard's backlight to turn off after 30 seconds even when the device is plugged in.

Ya I've tried with MSI After Burner as well, Acer should really allow for a custom fan curve and I actually never saw the "Cool boost" thing?? I'll take a look at it.

The Cool Boost thing solved my problem Smiley Very Happy

The fans hit max speed before the GPU is over 72C so thats fine by me. Thanks!

Hmmmmm. Is this still an issue? This is exactly what I notice with my Predator Helios 500; Auto is just a little undertuned, and both turbo and custom are static. PH517-61. I've settled for an additional cooling unit to sit the laptop on top of, and using the fan dial to real-time adjust in order to compensate for the auto curve's lacking.
