My laptop (Acer Predator Helios 300) has been experiencing crackling/popping in the left front speaker. I have checked for updates and am currently up to date on any audio drivers, I reinstalled the audio driver as well. None of it is working. I troubleshooted the audio and a "generic audio driver" was detected. Is this an issue? Is this what can be causing the crackling and popping noise? Is there anything I can do to fix the audio issue I am experiencing? Or do I just have to wait for an update that will hopefully, eventually correct the software issue?

I'm not sure what you mean by "generic audio driver detected". Windows usually detects the audio device itself, not its driver. I suggest that you open Device Manager. If there are no red or yellow driver warnings, then uninstall the current audio driver. Exit Device Manager without tryng to re-install anything yourself. Then reboot and allow Windows to re-detect audio device and automatically install an appropriate audio  driver for the audio device it has detected.  Jack E/NJ

BabaYaga Make sure your headphone or headset plug has the proper ring out for your laptop as shown in the image below. Jack E/NJ
