I have this 'no audio output device installed' problem on my Predator Helios 300. I have tried installing the audio drivers, and my computer says I have them, but they still aren't working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please try the below mentioned steps. I see that some users have reported the issue as fixed after doing these steps.
    >> Try to perform a simple power reset and check the issue.  Shutdown the laptop. Disconnect the charger. Disconnect the external display. Please check for a battery reset PIN hole at the bottom of the device. The reset hole would have a battery symbol next to it. Insert a paperclip into the hole and press for four seconds. Let the computer sit for 5 minutes with no power. Reconnect the charger and power On the laptop.

    >>Try to reset BIOS to default settings. Start your computer and as soon as you hit the Power On button, keep pressing the F2 key. You can simply hit the F9 key to display a blue screen that says Load Setup defaults? Clicking "no" to discard changes and exit from BIOS.
Now go to BIOS and check if you are able to set the boot order.

Let us know the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist u further.

    Hi Aqqke

If you see No Audio Output Device is installed when you hover your mouse over the the sound icon, your audio problem is probably caused by one of these issues, and there are three repair methods you can try that have helped other users. You may not need to try them all; just start at the top of the list and work your way down.

    1. Re-enable the device
    2. Manually uninstall & reinstall the device driver
    3. Automatically update your audio device drivers
    4. Refer to user comments

    Method 1: Re-enable the device

To fix the problem, follow these steps (Steps below are for your reference. The specific steps in different system versions may be different. ):

    1) On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key  and R at the same time to invoke a Run command. Type devmgmt.msc in the run box and click on OK button.

    open device manager

    2) Locate the Sound, video and game controllers category in the list.

    locate sound device

If you don’t see this category in your list, continue with step 2a) below. Otherwise skip to step 3.

2a) Click the Action menu and select Add Legacy hardware (if you see only the Help in this menu, click somewhere in the white space around the list (i.e. make sure nothing in the tree is selected), then click the Action menu again)
    Add Legacy hardware 1

2b) Click Next to start the Add Hardware wizard. (If the Add Hardware wizard doesn’t display at all, skip to Method 3 below.)
    Add Legacy hardware 2
2c) Select Search for and install hardware automatically (Recommended).
    Add Legacy hardware 3

2d) If the wizard tells you it can’t find any new hardware, click Next.

2e) You should now see a list of hardware types. Scroll down until you see Sound, video and game controllers. Select it and click Next.
    Add Legacy hardware 5

2f) Select the manufacturer and model of your sound card, then click Next. (If you’re not sure what manufacturer and model to select, skip to Method 3 below.)
    Add Legacy hardware 6
2g) Click Next to install the device, then when the installation is complete, click Finish.

    3) Expand the Sound, video and game controllers category, and right-click on your audio device. Click Enable in the pop up menu. (If the device is already enabled, skip to Method 2 below.)

    enable sound

Method 2: Manually uninstall & reinstall the device driver

    1) Still in Device Manager, once again expand Sound, video and game controllers, right-click on your audio device, and click Uninstall to uninstall the driver.

    reinstall driver

    2) Restart your PC. After restarting, Windows should automatically re-install the sound driver. Assuming it installs the latest correct driver, this may resolve the problem.

Method 3: Automatically update your audio device drivers

Your sound problem is probably being caused by driver issues. The steps above may resolve it, but if they don’t, or you’re not confident playing around with drivers manually, you can do it automatically with Driver Easy.

Driver Easy will automatically recognize your system and find the correct drivers for it. You don’t need to know exactly what system your computer is running, you don’t need to risk downloading and installing the wrong driver, and you don’t need to worry about making a mistake when installing.

You can update your drivers automatically with either the FREE or the Pro version of Driver Easy. But with the Pro version it takes just 2 clicks (and you get full support and a 30-day money back guarantee):

    1) Download and install Driver Easy.

    2) Run Driver Easy and click Scan Now. Driver Easy will then scan your computer and detect any problem drivers.

    3) Click the Update button next to a flagged audio driver to automatically download and install the correct version of this driver (you can do this with the FREE version). Or click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all the drivers that are missing or out of date on your system (this requires the Pro version – you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).

Please let me know if this fixed your issue

    Hi,
Please try to update the audio driver from the acer website. If you are in United States.  Go to https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers
Look for audio driver and download that on your computer. See if this fixes the issue

Have you tried the above mentioned power reset and BIOS default steps?
What is the full model number of your Predator Helios 300?
  • Lots of responses lolol.

Just find that yellow exclamation point in device manager and unistall the driver then immediately reboot.

You might have generic windows driver afterwards and probably lose Dolby but then just reinstall Acer's Realtek driver and you should be good to go.

    Hi,
    What's the full model name?
  • Hi,
Go to Sound, click Playback devices, click Speakers and Properties, check whether speaker is muted.
