hi all

brought the swift 3  few months back , happy with its performance however , i have had one issue with it ever since i have brought it .

when the screen is black on startup with the acer logo there are white cloudy marks around the perimeter of the screen .the problem seems to be worse when the screen is on its brightest setting and is only visible on black background.

The is no problem with the display or damage. it has been this way since i purchased it ,but only lately it has started to bother me a little.

anyone else have this problem ?

  • Hi,
It could be backlight bleeding, it's normal in IPS screens, if it doesn't bother too much you can ignore it, try contacting Acer support centre in your region and check whether they could replace the screen under warranty repair.

ok so here are a couple of images , they are not great images because its very hard to capture these white blemishes , but like i said , its only ever visible on black background and has been like it since the day i had the laptop .never had problem with acer laptops before this , and i brought this one as the screen was supposed to be superior to the aspire

after doing some research i found that this is back light bleed. common with ips screens apparantly.

not really acceptable of acer to be selling laptops with bleed.

i wish id have brought a cheaper model now .

does manufacture warranty cover screen bleed im not sure ?

i just want to add to this by saying that i emailed acer customer services and got areply asking me to provide proof of purchase name ,address etc..
i then recieved an email back saying that my warranty had ended and if i disagreed with this then i needed to provide the receipt.
i had no problem with this as the laptop is only just 6 months old.
so i provided all they asked for and now i get no reply.
i have messaged 3 times with no reply now

are acer avoiding their warranty obligations ? anyone from acer care to comment on this ?

just updating this for anyone who is interested. i must say im a bit dissapointed at the lack of response to this thread.
    anyway,,,,

im due to take my laptop back to acers 3rd party repairs team in telford sometime this week. (taking it back myself to avoid any damaged in transit) disputes.

I really dont have much confidence in whether acer will be able to solve this back light bleed problem.
i have asked the customer services to tell me the likelyhood that it can be fixed and they seem pretty uneduacated about the problem and unwilling to commit to giving answers.
this is most definately a gamble .i really dont want to end up with worse backlight bleed if they take the screen apart. but at the same time i feel that i should at least try get this fixed but then i read its normal. but for a small 14 inch screen to have so much backlight bleed seems unreasonable to me. pics attached
    i dont know ;(
