Hello people.

Ive just received the new laptop, but even though I knew the issue, the screen brightness still is a slight disappointment. I found a post on notebookforums about possible panel upgrades and was wondering how viable this is.

forum.notebookreview.com/threads/acer-predator-helios-300-panel-upgrade.809243/

with some panels that supposedly would be a fit

Any thoughts?

    Hi,
Yes, if your model is G3-571, the screens mentioned in the above link will work.

    Hello,
in case of Predator Helios 300 PH317-51, 17" inch (that suffers some pretty bad backlight bleed and also very dim) which alternative panel could i look forward to?

    Hi,
You need to find the panel model in your laptop, it could be any of the following:B173HAN01.0,  LP173WF4-SPF5,  N173HCE-E31 C1,N173HCE-E31 C1,   or any other model.
As we don't know which model has the backlight bleed problem, we can only try another compatible model. If you have problem with your screen, please post the model name and we can find an alternative screen.

    Hi all,

Just for a small update. I ended up going with the SPB1 panel. Cost was about 50 bucks from amazon. Swap was very easily made and im very happy with the results.

The difference wasn't very apparent in non-bright environments, but now the laptop is very usable even in sunlight. Colors feel abit more natural aswell

    Highly recommend!

    Good day.
Does anyone know the screen specification of PH315-15-538G. I broke the screen and brought it to the main  service center in Manila. But it will take up to 45 days before the can replace it. Looking for the exact specs of the screen so I can source it myself. 45 days from now is forever.

@Deneb if you think you can fix it yourself without breaching the warranty just check the display serial/model and search for it and replace it yourself but i doubt they would allow you to do that yourself they would void your warranty right away but ask them

Accidental damage is not covered by warranty. Right? But does it mean if my laptop is serviced at Acer. The warranty coverage would resume right after they do their repairs? If it is. Then might be worth the wait until they fix it. Though quite a long time before I get it back.

You would have to contact acer support for an answer regarding that

Thanks for the advise. I got confirmation that warranty will continue. They will repair it as soon as the replacement part arrives.  I will just have to wait a maximum of 45 days until I get my laptop back. So I just bought a new Asus laptop to continue my job. As 45 days without a job will leave me homeless. Which is worst than not having a laptop.

Well that's great news and not so great at the same time
