Hi, I was trying to factory reset my Aspire 5250 series because it had a virus on it, but when I did it only got to 53% and then said it couldn't finish the reset. Then when it went to restart again it said "windows fails to restart. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem-" then it asked me to insert my windows installation disc, but I don't have it. So what can I do to restore my computer back to the factory reseted settings.

It will be necessary to create a recovery medium with an image from this website & burn to a DVD or USB drive. You probably did not create a restore point, therefore it is not possible to save your personal data.

If you still had Win7 installed you can try an ALT + F10 reset as shown in  the video below. The reset can be done while trying to save your personal files but the virus may be restored as well. It's best to do a full reset without saving your personal files. Jack E/NJ

If you are unable to do a factory reset, the next step is a reinstall of Windows OS.

Rmason1978  Use an external USB or wireless keyboard. Jack E/NJ
