At CES 2013 intel said that Acer will refresh the Iconia W700 series with a new device that would be 20% thinner, 20% better weight, all due to their new 7W core processors. They also said something about an i7 version. Some guy was holding a prototype actually.

intel said this version would be released "later this spring".

I'm really looking forward to it's release and i wanted to know when to expect it exactly..

Some release date would be good for marketing.. (see Lenovo..)

so... news pls? Smiley Very Happy

I don't know if it would make any difference or if Acer would care about what the customers want, but i'll say what i expect from the newer version, either way:

    -new low power i7 processor

    -256GB ssd

    -micro SD slot

    -1usb+1thunderbolt port or 2usb ports

-no rear camera (it's useless on such device, imo)

    -keyboard like on W510

    -10h+ battery life

what do you think? Smiley Happy

The new version of Acer Iconia W700 did not include the dock special for it. Did Acer got sell it as accesories?

I think you are talking about the Keyboard Case version. That version does not include a dock but a special case with keyboard that can work like the docking station. However, the internals are identical, except for the processor which is 3337U instead of 3317U (no big difference, really).

I was talking about a new version of iconia something that would probably be W710 or something like that..

    Nice suggestions!

    How about:

    • Drop the rear camera (agree, there's really not much of a use for it) and improve the front one.
    • Improve the mic quality. The onboard one is pretty weak.
    • Add a second USB (I agree, just one more would be useful).
    • Include a tablet stand with continuously-adjustable angle. The keyboard case is neat, but at times I want the tablet on its own, stood in "easel" mode. OK, I can buy a stand from Amazon, but including one would be nice.
    • Include a Bluetooth mouse!

For me i5 is powerful enough, but I can see where i7 + active digitizer would come in handy for graphics road warriors.

The battery life is truly amazing, though, even now...

i think that a keyboard dock like w510 (with keys and touchpad) is way better than a stand and bluetooth mouse, because:

    • you can swap between tablet and notebook with ease
    • you have multiple viewing angles and it can be used as stand also
    • it's way easier to carry than a dock + mouse and whatever else is necessary..

oh, and fix the throttling.. if people buy an i5 / i7 they expect i5 / i7 performance when they need it, for as long as they need it, not for a matter of seconds..

Perhaps add a touchpad to the keyboard with the case..?

The new models of Acer Iconia W700 might have these processors:

Core i5-3439Y @ 1.5 GHz turbo to 2.3 GHz for the CPU, and 350 MHz turbo to 850 MHz for the GPU (13W TDP)

Core i7-3689Y @ 1.5 GHz turbo to 2.6 GHz for the CPU, and 350 MHz turbo to 850 MHz for the GPU (13W TDP)

Both would have intel HD 4000 graphics.

What do you think of the performace, related to the current version:

Core i5-3337U @ 1.8 GHz turbo to 2.7 GHz for the CPU, and 350 MHz turbo to 1100 MHz for the GPU (17W TDP)

Does anyone have any official link or leak about a newer version? Personally I highly doubt it.

this is the only info i could find about it:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lm5kexlLay8&t=17m20s

same performace with better battery life and 20% less weight, would make me wanna regret buying a W700 now.

especially if they add microSD slot.

although there is no confirmation from acer... Smiley Sad

this is so wrong... Acer made this tablet, put a very hihh price tag and then sell it just to see what we thought could be better... and then they decide to leave us with a half working product and make a new one... My parents worked hard to get thr money needed to buy me this...

W700 works really well. And remember it isnt an Android tablet waiting to get an update otherwise it would be outdated. It is a PC with good specs and a fantastic price vs the Surface. Personally I wont be dissapointed if a newer version comes since my W700 wont self destruct and for the reason I bought it I expect it to be competitive for many years to come.
