Running on Windows 10 since new a couple of years ago, I have now lost the ability to burn a DVD but I can still burn a CD. When I checked the Device manager it showed a CD drive but no DVD Drive. When I insert a DVD disc the drive "busy" light does not come on.

The answer was found on Windows 10. I had never noticed that Control Panel had a Troubleshooting choice. Choosing that opened another page where you choose under "Hardware and Sound" "Configure a Device". The troubleshooter found that a driver needed to be re-installed which it did automatically. After a reboot the drive is showing and working. So a lesson learned for me anyway.

When's the last time you tried to burn DVD disc? And what DVD disc were you trying to read? Jack E/NJ

Thanks Jack, about 4 days ago I tried to burn a DVD-R. This was the first after months of inactivity and the disk is a Verbatum brand from a pack that has previously worked ok.

Are the Verbatims write-once or re-writeable?  Jack E/NJ
